L83 and TR6060 fitment
Hey all, I'm going to start this swap into my 58 and I'm looking for advice from someone who's done it. From what I've learned the L89 6.2 truck engine has the same bottom end as the LT1, so that should be pretty straight forward, but the 5.3 is not the same as any of the camaro engines...
What clutch, flywheel, etc should i be looking for? The engine isn't going to be crazy, I'm just going to delete the AFM/DOD junk, do a high rise intake (for the looks, mainly) and long tube headers, so i don't need a giant racing clutch or anything silly Thanks! |

I would look into a stock Camaro clutch, flywheel and fly wheel. Or maybe a LS7 clutch setup. I've used the LS7 stuff on a couple of LS/T56 combos and it has worked well.

From what I have seen on adding a standard trans, the L83 crank is not drilled deep enough for the pilot bushing. You need a 3/8" spacer between the block and bellhousing so you don't break the block. Car Craft Dec 2018 did a good writeup n this process for a Camaro they were swapping.
