Can I get the big block guys with manual transmissions in here please?

Ok guys, I have a 454 in my 70 c10. I am using the 70 BB engine towers and mounts. Behind the motor I have a 4 speed muncie. For clutch linkage parts I have the proper big block Zbar along with the truck big block style ball stud/bracket setup. The problem is #7 primary on my el cheapo summit headers won't allow me to install the factory big block ball stud setup. What brand headers are you guys running that fit better than these cheap pieces of crap I have on now? I want something that has lots of frame clearance and that doesn't rub on the lower a-frames. Please advise. Pics would be super. I'm not afraid to spend $600 on a nice set of headers if I have to.

a bump TTT for you. 4 speed big blocks aren't all that common. Most guys on here swap out to an auto.

I don't know what model headers I have in my '71 with a 454 and 4 speed, but they are made by Hooker.

Re: Can I get the big block guys with manual transmissions in here please?

I'll take some pictures tomorrow and post them. My truck is at my garage not here at my house. The headers are the weirdest looking ones I have ever seen.

To get them in we had to jack the front of the truck way up while lifting the engine with a hoist to slide the headers in from the bottom. The engine could not be installed with the headers installed.

i have hooker super comps on mine, shifter linkage is fine but they are pretty crazy underneath because they are equal length tubes. def. cannont install with the motor bolted in, i actually put mine in before the motor.

Re: Can I get the big block guys with manual transmissions in here please?

Here are a couple of pictures I just took. Here is a little background.

It is a '71 that originally came with a 350 witha 4 speed manual that we put a '73 454 in it with unknow model hooker headers.

The transmission was not relocated, the engine was mated to the transmission and let settle in place using the '73 BB mounts and towers.

Hopefully they show the style of headers and the clearance of the back of the header pipe and clutch linkage.

Thank you very much.

The ones that are on it were the ones my son put on it when it had stock manifolds and in my grandson's '69. I just have not got around to changing them.

What is a good brand wire that can be cut to fit?
