Roll call: Let's see some overseas members 67 - 72 trucks...who do we have?

I know we have several truck owning members here who live outside North America. I'm curious who has what where, how the trucks were acquired, what if any difficulty is encountered in obtaining parts, and what the public reaction is like. Let's see some foreign 67-72 trucks.

Re: Roll call: Let's see some overseas members 67 - 72 trucks...who do we have?

Well, as you ask. It was a USAF truck until 1986. I bought it in 1992 in a very tired condition. I swapped the 6 for a 350 and then a 502. I've replaced most of the panels with fibreglass. It's got a 9 inch with coilovers. It runs mid 11's but I am looking for a 10. Yes it's expensive shipping parts in, smuggling parts back from the States saves money. Reaction is mixed. Car guys love it.

Hi everyone,

Nice thread idea DeadheadNM, cool that you guys are interested in what old US iron are out there.
Here's a link to my build thread which explains a lot about my truck.http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=386276

US cars and trucks are in fact more common at least in Sweden than what many of might think. A lot of guys import their own car/truck and there are several companys specialising in import older and newer for that matter cars and trucks from USA.

Here's a link to an old thread which explains the costs involved when i imported my 71.
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=154392

As for parts there are a couple companys selling US car/truck parts so there isn't really a problem to find almost anything but the prices are about double or three or four times the prices in US. Often it is cheaper to order from ebay sellers, Rockauto or similar. The problem with that is delivery time usually could be up to four weeks.

Thanks

Really liked reading the build threads guys - thanks for sharing. Dima, how did the truck get to Moscow? Did you buy it locally or have transported from the US?

Another question - what's the current cost of a liter of gas? I just filled up with ethanol free 91 octane for $3.33 a gallon (3.8 liters) and 87 octane w ethanol is ~$2.70/gallon.

One hectare or orange paint on that engine! I love it! I should pull mine out in my spare time and repaint it.

Thanks!
I buy it in Russia. I was able to trace the history of the pickup: pickup was taken from the United States Mississippi to Holland, then to Russia.
In Mississippi Chevy was sold after the accident.
Now I restore it.
Spare parts in Russia are almost impossible to find, all buy on E Bay, Summit Racing and Rock auto.
Gasoline prices have fallen in Russia now, but it's only because the ruble fell against the dollar.
92- 0.61 per 1 liter
95-0.66 per 1 liter
Diesel - 0.63-1 liter

Gas prices in Sweden is about the highest in the world, there is no ethanol free gas to buy here anymore. All gas has 5-10% ethanol in it. Price is about USD 1.70 per liter or USD 6.50 per gallon.

Would love a 3.55 rear, I have 4.10 in mine now. Looking for a period camper for my truck but it is hard to find one here. Your truck looks really nice.

Wow that is even lower than US prices, really didn't know that.

Re: Roll call: Let's see some overseas members 67 - 72 trucks...who do we have?

Hi there, I am from the UK and although i do own a 1971 C10 Short bed i have never seen it, the reason why is

As we speak it's inside a container on a boat sailing its way to the UK

I got it from California and for one reason or another it should have been here over 6 weeks ago, but issues with the union at the port of long beach has delayed it.

The sad thing is i leave for vacation on Tuesday the 16th to FL for 3 weeks and the truck is due in on the 20th.

Can not wait to get my hands on it and start tinkering on her.

Cheers! Looks like a nice truck. No issues with emissions in the UK? Keep us updated with more pics once you two are properly acquainted
