09 Yukon

I am looking at an 09 GMC Yukon 4wd for the wife. It has good options. It has listed "shiftable automatic" trans. I see it has a + and - on the shift lever.
What trans is this and what does this on the shifter do?
Any quirks to be aware of with the 09's?
Hp? MPG?
What denotes that 4 to 8 cylinder derate deal? The dealers don't always list every option on the window sheets of used vehicles and sometimes they are wrong in their ads too.
