1958 Engine info

I'm looking to put a L6 engine out of a later model engine for my 58 apache. Its a 1/2 ton and I would like to try to get decent fuel mileage. The rear end it a 4.11. I'm thinking about a turbo 350 with a higher ratio in the rear. Just looking for suggestions. Thanks
I pity the fool with only 2 headlights!!!

Re: 1958 Engine info

If milage is your goal you need a 700r4 tranny with overdrive. But their (our trucks) are not much on cutting thought the air, so don't plan on getting much over 15-18, if your a flat lander and 3:08 gears could reach low 20s with the right driver.
