That looks like a timbren. Commonly used on front axles of plow trucks. I know you can buy them for rear axles too.

Looks like you already have a plan drive it and use it as a truck well that's what i would do.

Re: Barn find 71 K2500 followed me home

Hauled a load of leaves out back a couple weeks ago and let it drive itself in granny low while I unloaded. This allowed me to spread the leaves throughout the field and not in a pile! I think i had it in 4 low but can't recall for sure. Finally got it off my phone and on youtube:

Yep, I would never part an original 4x4 unless there wasn't a title. They're just too rare and desirable to part.

Re: Barn find 71 K2500 followed me home

Truck looks great and glad to see you're using it for what it is. I'd love to find a K20 or K2500 like that around here. Last K/20 frame I found guy said he was gonna use it, about a year and half later asked about it again and was told "I hauled it for scrap", made me sick!

Re: Barn find 71 K2500 followed me home

Looks like the entire engine save for the exhaust manifolds are out of a later model truck. Most likely 80's. That is a 80's air cleaner. Alt. mounted on the wrong side, long water pump and wrong Ps pump. The intake is a stock aluminum manifold found on many 305 and 350 engines in the 80's. Nothing too special but some dirt track racers like them cause they think they're getting away with something. Watch the inside mounting bolts, they may be vertical instead of being angled and will not swap to older heads. Neat truck though, I like the dark green, my Longhorn is that color.

That's cool. We used to do that on level b roads as kids. Can't do that in the city.. Just shows how low granny really is!

Tony, glad we were able to work out a deal! Let me know when the title arrives. Hopefully you will keep us updated on the truck when you get to working on it later this year and next.

Hoping to get the carb and tank done late next week when my bro is in town.

Nope, the cab is a standard one they were added to. Appear to seal well since the visor area is still solid.
