I agree with all the comments regarding build costs. When you are building a quality, custom truck, an enormous amount of time goes into the customization but it also takes a lot of time taking the caliber of the build to the next level. I have close to 400 hours into paint and body and I started with a rust-free truck. Then you start talking about detailing the engine compartment... Hours and hours and lots of $$$ for shiny parts. Then, once the outside of the truck is finished, you need to do the interior. It wouldn't surprise me if the interior on that truck cost $10,000 or more. Then, you need to start looking at cool details like the back window. OK, I'm rambling but the list goes on and on and so does the money. All that being said, I'm glad I spent the money to build my truck. It is going to bring me enjoyment for many years.

I imagine it's custom. They either used an original piece of glass or had one cut then modified a power window setup from some other vehicle to work with it... Power rear window for a 73-87 Blazer comes to mind ???

Re: Sold for $55,000

I think some of the rock throwers (close to 90%) couldn't afford $55k (Neither can I) so any knocks sound kinda hollow with envy. I have been on this board for years and It still irks me to hear people bash someone elses' vehicle. Just because it is a public forum, and we are mostly annonymous, doesn't mean we can talk out of our backsides. I couldn't afford that truck (Maybe I could, but wouldn't), but I can appreciate the amount of $$$ that went into it. No one could do it for less, even if you did it foryourself, you need to eat so even your free labor isn't free!!

The positive thing about this is that just means our trucks are increasing in value...

Re: Sold for $55,000

That is a great buy and I'm a tire kicker LOL!!! Seen it at Columbus and a top notch build. I'd rather invest $55k in that than a new high dollar ride.

That's the way I feel exactly... If you bought a brand new, high-end truck with all the bells and whistles for $55K, in 3 years it would be worth $25-30K (if you were lucky). The classic truck purchased for $55K would probably still be worth the same money in 3 years, maybe even more depending on how the value of our trucks increases.

$55,000 for a truck and I don't get a heater or windshield wipers?
I agree with this statement. I don't know what the regulations in the States are, or if you even have safeties, but here in Ontario, if it doesn't have operable windshield wipers, good luck getting it on the road!

Re: Sold for $55,000

Ok my nickles worth(2 cents adjusted for inflation). The truck is beautiful. It is worth $55,000.00.Someone just paid that for it.It probably cost way more than twice that to build if he did it in less than a year and had all the work done. It's obviously a show winner. The build quality probably did cause the price to be so high.In short I agree with everyones comments.

With that said I have to say I think what most have missed is that the members of this forum for the most part are the kind of people who would rather do it them selves. Most enjoy the build aspect of these trucks(Take a direct hit here LFD).Many of the members here are capable of building this quality of truck(another shot LFD).I do think anyone who could afford to build that truck would either be a LOTTO winner or better educated.I see no sense in bashing what someone else built or had built since I would prefer not to hear them bash mine.I think it comes down to the fact that some of the enthusiasts enjoy old rides for the sake of the old ride and others enjoy beating someone else out of the trophy. Just food for thought.

Well lets hope the guy that bought it doesn't live in Ontario.

Why not?

Opinions vary on any number of subjects and since this is a truck board I don't see why guys can't express their opinions on a truck that is on a public site. Even the negative opinions are still considered opinions.

Re: Sold for $55,000

I wasn't trying to bash the truck, it is obviously one sweet, show-winning truck. I wouldn't complain if it mysteriously turned up at my place . But you would think for all the money and time spent on it you would include the basics to make it a driveable truck to cruise down the strip once in a while and show off.

It's alright Shaner, he got on me about some things I said in the Coddington thread. He even PM'd me "I'll tell ya what you're new here... steer clear of me... you won't be here long." Aunt Flow must be in town.

Sorry for temporarily straying from the topic.

I bet you more than $50000 worth of parts/sweat went into that truck. I have great respect for the hard work that goes into making an old truck look that good. Buuuuut not my cup of tea. You can't even drive the thing half the year. Just the thought of picturing that truck being trailered around everywhere...

Don't every body shoot me here, but i'd climb over 20 of those to get to C10-Drivers truck, that green is superb and it still looks like a true C10...you cannot improve on the way these trucks look, they got them just right first time, there's a few good things on there for sure but i'd pass.

Just My Opinion!

Re: Sold for $55,000

Hey, I'm just saying I prefer to have a daily driver that's a little more practical and that I can take off-road without worrying too much about it. And I can do THAT for a lot less than $55,000.

To each his own; it's just not my cup of tea.

Nice truck, not my thing either. Not as much fun as they appear to be. I agree building and working on ones truck is a satisfying feeling, that's why I try to do most everything myself. This is not to say this guy did'nt build this truck or that a turn key truck sucks it's just my opinion. (worth .02.)

Again ..... great looking truck.

esll.

his wheels were "raped" with quality rubber LMAO!!! Thats a very nice truck but that guy is a moron. but its people like him that give me the inspiration to not go to school because this is America and i can be dumber than a rock and still make enough money to drop 100k on a truck build.

Re: Sold for $55,000

Agree with Deland and Shanes thoughts, well said. Let me throw this out. You have (1 Beaters, (2 Drivers, (3 Cruisers, (4 Showers and (5 Queeners. Each has its place and price!! But you don't compare a $500 to a $5000 with a 50,000 etc. Most of us couldn't afford or build one that sharp, but there is a few on here that would sit in my driveway. See ten's and Tim's Gmc. And I don't like green LOL!!! And on the other side some I'd junk and part out. But to each their own.
