'71 Blazer, 2" lift, steering questions

My Tuff Country 2 inch Lift Kit is on its way for my '71 Blazer. I will be running 32x11.5 Cooper Discoverer STTs on it. Can anyone advise if I need to get a dropped Pitman arm, or an adjustable drag link, etc...?

This is what I have on there now, i dont know if it is dropped or not.

Since I have the solid, non-adjustable drag link, do I need to get one of these?
http://www.jackit.com/store/supercart.cgi?s=jac_1001

And would any of the other crap on this page be necessary/useful for me?

thanks.

Re: '71 Blazer, 2" lift, steering questions

You can get away with just an adjustable draglink with a 2" lift. The draglink needs to be close to level with the steering arm.

You do not have a dropped pitman, that is a stock one.

Just go to your auto parts store, They will have both ends and the adjuster sleeve. Might have to order it for a 73' or so blazer. Not sure if your non adjustable one is stock for that year.

Mine came with an adjustable one

Can't wait to see the 2" with 32's. Be sure to post some before and after pics. I'm doing a 2" soon.

You should be fine with the adjustable drag link. That's what I have with 2.5 lift. I had a raised steering arm for the 4 inch lift previously in the truck. When I dropped it down man it had BAD bump steer. Went back to the stock are arm (with adjustable drag link) and all was good.

would you mind getting a measurement from the inside of the spring to the nub in the middle? I have some springs and was wondering if they will work on my blazer. thanks,

Re: '71 Blazer, 2" lift, steering questions

Here is the page from LMC. I ordered parts # 1 through #5 today. My local guy said the three drag link parts were available, and pretty standard used for many model years, but the tie rod ends (#1 & #2 in diagram below) were not available anymore. So i ordered online

Re: '71 Blazer, 2" lift, steering questions

Good posts however older... anyone have any follow up on this topic? I am looking to do a 2 to 3 inch lift myself.

Where can I get an affordable full kit? I've been all over the net. Jackit is expensive while rough country is reasonable. However, RC only offers a minimum of 4"

I'd love to see pics of the 2.5's including the pitman arm area.

Thanks!!

TC soft rides are the way to go on a budget. I have the 2" all spring kit and it does the job.

72CTS,

Did you have to do any mods? Brake lines? Tranny drop? Drag link?

Do you have pics?

Thanks,
Mike

Re: '71 Blazer, 2" lift, steering questions

On a 2" lift I would think all you need to do is get the adj. drag link.

I would check the brake line length too but they might be ok for such a mild lift.

Drivelines/trans/etc should also be fine.

Sounds like Seventy One hit the nail on the head. I dont have any other mods, just the new springs and shocks. I did add a zero rate to the rear to level it up (not installed in pic). I am running 33x12.50's (actually measure 32" tall). I used the stock drag link, just adjusted to re-center stearing wheel.
