72 Tailgate gap

Just installed my Goodmark tailgate and I think the driver side gap is too great.
Does it look too wide? Do I need to push the driver side bed in to close it?

Re: 72 Tailgate gap

I don't think it needs to be adjusted personally. Probably better than factory gaps were..
If ANYthing, the gap looks bigger at the bottom, and the only way to adjust that would be to move the lower portion of the bedside inboard, if you have any adjustability for that.
But, for me, I'd be happy with what you currently have, looks good to me.

Re: 72 Tailgate gap

From the picture, the gap looks okay to me. Could try to move the side but you'll have to undo bolts and cut the welded spot. Most of the trucks of that era that I've seen had large gaps in all areas. The sheet metal in my 68 GMC is an example. It's all stock and alignment is not the best. The manufacturers didn't spend a lot of time on aligning sheet metal like they do newer vehicles since the trucks were primarily used for work in those days.

Re: 72 Tailgate gap

If I am understanding correctly, you can put a couple washers between the PS bedside and the bottom bracket (not sure of the technical name) for the tailgate...same with the actual hinge. My repop was way worse and nearly rubbed the PS, couple washers later and the gap is even.
