difference between 20&241 transfercase ?

which would be better in my 86 K-10? and what problems if any that I might incounter if I swaped the 208 to the 241? The 241 is coming out of a 90 suburban. thanks.

I'd go with the 241 with a slip yoke eliminator. It'll bolt up where the 208 was and has a better low ratio.

I think a '90 Suburban 241 has a VSS and no speedo cable connection.

you are correct. other than that, everything is a direct bolt in. the 2.72:1 low range of the 241 is nice compared to the 2.50ish of the 208

I actually think the 208's is 2.62:1 and I wouldn't necessarily classify that as a "big improvement" with the 241's being only .1 more.

Re: difference between 20&241 transfercase ?

The 241s have a much stronger magnesium case ( the 208 is aluminum and is not so strong)and a larger chain, and 6 pinion planitaries. as mentioned above you can also add a slipyoke eliminator kit as well. You can get a tail housing off of an 89 if you want a mechanical speedo, it will bolt right on, or if you go with the slip yoke eliminator, some come with the tail housing and you have the choise of mechanical or VSS electronic. I would stay with the electronic and go with some aftermarket Guages!
