Re: '49 chevy with s-10

I love the look of this truck. I'm started a 1st 55 this fall. I'm using a S-10 too. But a short bed Reg cab I got with it. I'm in the middle of stretching it now. If I knew what the "correct" or true center was , I could set it up when I fit the pieces in the splice. Any updates on your truck ?

Thanks, its hard to give you a "correct" or true center measurement. I tried to make the cab to bed gap closer on mine. Good luck with yours and keep us posted!!

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

Im using a tri-4 link , I should be able to get it close. I going to mount the box and cab close together too. Have you mount the under dash master assembly yet ? I wanted to use one them but filling and room has me thinking about a firewall mount .

I just need to see more of your shock mounts. I don't think I could handle that motor.

Re: '49 chevy with s-10

I guess I did see those pics now that I looked at them again. Did you make the top bracket ? What brand and number shock is that ? I have a Ride Tech upper that use the eyelet or bolt through type shock but the bracket looks thinner the the S10 frame .

Yes you can. You can have the Mustang rearend axles and rotors/drums redrilled to Chevy bolt pattern. I have a 9 inch in my 55 Chevy 210 and I had the axles and rotors redrilled to a Chevy bolt pattern. It was about 80 bucks.

Or you can have your S10 rotors redrilled to Ford pattern.Yuck.lol Just kidding but you can do that if thats an option for you. As you can see in the pic below my new rotors came with Ford 5 on 4 1/2 and Chevy 5 4 3/4 bolt patterns. They also came with 7/16 Chevy studs and 1/2 Ford studs

I was just wondering how many other projects you have done? Next truck I'm just going to copy you. How did you know how to make your 4 link?

This is my first time having to make everything . mostly i've just messed with harleys and just normal hot roddn stuff. On the 4 link i just talked with my buddy at the street rod shop and decided that i wanted to go with a tri-angled 4 link to keep the wheels in the center when using air ride. I used to have a '68 chevy truck that had a panhard bar that would shift side to side when you raised or lowered it.

Also, please dont follow me.... blind leading the blind!!!!
