Detailing/Clean UP of Installed Engine?

Anyone have some tips and thoughts about detailing an installed 283 sbc? This is in my '57 two door sedan shown in the Alternate Tinkerings. Engine is running fine and with the dual four bbl carbs and being 70 years young really would rather not pull the engine and trans for the clean up. My body hasn't quite kept in tune with the 19 year old mind, LOL.

Want to degrease, clean and then paint, figuring to mask off and paint with a small 1/2'' brush or similar. Will remove the fan and shroud, pull headers as they need a bead blast and then re-paint with VHT Hi-Heat Header paint. Intake is stock '57 GM dual four intake, valve covers are M/T cast aluminum. Will paint the intake but leave the valve covers aluminum.

Bought a pint of KBS "Motor Coater" engine enamel in Chevrolet Orange. Not doing a B/J show piece, just want to clean the engine and go back to the mid-60s high school street brawler look.

Just need some thoughts about cleaning agents to use and best way to do so. Thanks.
