Bench Seat Adjustment Rod Repair - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a 1970 Chevrolet K10 with a bench seat, and the rod that that ties the two seat track adjusting mechanisms together has come unattached. It seems that the passenger side of the rod has a double 90 degree curve that fits into a hole on the adjustment mechanism but the driver side adjuster has a groove that the rod just sits on top of. Is there some sort of clip that holds the rod onto the seat adjuster groove? Also there are some metal links that are tied to the back of the lower seat frame that are not connected to anything. Do these connect to the center of the rod with a spring or some sort of linkage?

Thanks for the pictures. Is there any way you can take a picture of the end of the crossover rod that connects to the driver side track latch? (I am talking about the rod that connects the driver side seat track latch to the passenger side seat track latch.) I can't figure out what holds the rod the onto latch mechanism. On the passenger side, there is a hole that the rod slips through, but on the driver side there is a finger or notch that the rod just rests in. It seems that there would be some sort of clip that holds the rod onto the seat track latch.

other one:-- nothing holds it on but the way it is bent--also when you run it through loops it will stay put.

Thanks for the pictures. I finally figured out what is missing on my seat. It looks like the spring and the clip and the end of the latch are missing. I didn't quite figure it out from the first set of pictures you posted.

Right now I have the rod butted up against the end of the latch mechanism (the "L" shaped part) and there is some wires wrapped around the two. Is there any chance you might know of a place that would sell the spring and the clip?

Try junk yard--'73 up should be the same for awhile--Gm does not like to change anything if they don't have to. Good luck.

Old post but still helpful.
Found the rod, clip and spring on the floor when I moved the seat for a gas tank reline. Need to make some hangers for the rod.

I fixed mine with a piece of steel cable and crimped a loop on each end and a small turnbuckle to be able to adjust it with. a lot easier than the steel rod.
