1972 GMC Parts

I'm not sure where to post this but am sure it would get punted real quick off the parts for sale thread. I am seriously considering buying this 71 GMC to get the seat for my truck. What Is the 292 and posi leaf spring rear end or any other parts worth off this truck. The seller says the truck was running when parked outside in the North 40 10 years ago.

Re: 1972 GMC Parts

I would guess the rear at about $250. Probably a little more if coil sprung.
The power steering i would put around $300 (complete)
Maybe $75-$200 on the engine depending on if it runs and how good.
Looks like a good truck!

Re: 1972 GMC Parts

Thanks Eric, you are the man that should know. Is the Full Foam Seat an upgraded seat with better foam.

Re: 1972 GMC Parts

Yes,the full foam seat is a nice comfortable upgrade. The complete rear would be of most value to a GMC guy or Chevy with leaf option. I don't see too many changing from leaf to coil,so it would be worth the same as a coil, but only to a rear leaf truck owner. I'd put it at $300 because that's the least I see posi rears offered for here. Any 12-bolt can use the posi unit itself and I see those go for about the same alone.
The 292 should be offered with the crossmember, unless the buyer already has a 292 equipped truck. The price will vary, but at least $300 I'd think. You could put together quite a package with the p/s and asks considerably more.
Just an FYI,although the factory pinstripe is a really cool option on that truck, you won't be able to remove it for use on another truck .
Looks like that left rear wheelcover is a cheezy aftermarket knock-off that used to be available.
So,this truck parked well when running?

Gee Tim, I though I could get a couple of hundred for the pinstripe .... Thanks for the info on the seat. I though it would be easy to find a decent original seat for my truck but its proving difficult and I may buy this whole truck to get thr seat. I'd like to break even if I buy the truck and part it out.
