I've always wanted to do a bike tour down Hwy 1. Mostly tour around Colorado, on trails at that. Very familiar with Crazyguyonabike. Funny how interests intersect around here, it's a small world.

Have fun out there!
Yea. We are off the main freeways for the most part

Thanks for the offer in Durango. We originally were coming thru there but we moved the trip up a couple weeks to go to Bristol
So I think we will be staying further north for cooler weather
If anything changes I'll PM you and stop by

It is cool how interests cross. We used to bike tour and backpack quite a bit

Tomahawk30- thanks for the tips on the museum and caves.
Downtown- drove in on 31E and are in cave city now

All you other guys thanks for chiming in and offering info
There's only so much time. I wish we could fit it all in

Doing this thread makes the trip so much more satisfying with all the camaraderie and advise from people

We did a fair amount of driving today
And made it to Corvette Museum
A whole bunch of cool cars and history
Well worth it, and it's only $10 per person to enter

Chevyland, if you come through Fairfield let me know. I would love to meet you and see the truck. But if not we're only 45 minutes apart...Safe journey my friend.

This trip is a dream true. I am so envious, but I'm going to channel that envy, and visit a lot of the cool places you have mentioned.

Sounds like a plan. If you happen to come through let me know. I work at the Bud brewery and I'll buy in the tasting room...lol. We're doing some good craft beers now.

Nice! Tackling the BIG tour! I've only done the historic tour and it was a pretty leisurely hike / climb. Let me know how the 4 mile one is!

Smoke in the restaurant

Don't worry we took a table 2 over

Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast

Just a question, what sort of MPG are you getting outta that thing?

Do you know if it has stock rear ends, if so are you more or less limited to 60?

We plan on doing the same thing up here in Canada, and I ant to try and figure out budget

Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast

Not sure on gas mileage yet. Will update when we check it
Pretty sure differential is stock
We could drive faster but we keep around 55-60

Just left the caves.
I'll post up more on that later
Snapped this goodie on the way out of there

Red white and blue
God bless America

We're heading for The Kentucky Bourbon Trail 🇺🇸

Intercepted Eric and Brad along their route today, talked trucks for a few minutes, and snapped a few pics with the 'Burb. Real nice guys with a nice truck! Best of luck on the rest of your trip, guys.

You could keep the Corvette theme going with the Corvette Fun Fest in Effingham, IL Sept 15 - 18....http://corvettefunfest.com

It would be on your way to Decatur, IL.

Hey Alex,
Thanks for getting us on a route we might not have taken

These outskirt roads of Kentucky are beautiful

We did make it into Louisville
Just at dusk.

Took a stroll down to to Forth Street

Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast

Ok everyone
The Mammouth cave was totally worth it
We entered and descended down to 250-300'
Then it's like you are walking thru underground slot canyons
You come across waterfalls
Then rock slides with boulders 5 times the size of a Chevy COE truck
And an occasional waterfall to boot
Some areas you look up thinking you will see stars, but
There is only a solid sheet of rock

A rock is just a rock
Unless you use your imagination

Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast

I see you guys met in front of the hock shop. Is everything going alright? How's your money holding out?

After seeing (part of) Mammoth Cave can you better understand how the bottom of the Corvette museum dropped out? When in that region it's best not to jump up and down in the same place too long. Pogo sticks are banned!

Re: 72 Super Roadtrip-Coast to Coast

It was my pleasure, Eric. Glad you made it while you could still see the country. I've not been to Mammoth cave yet, but I may need to put it a little higher on my bucket list after your review!

Ha, special-K, main street in Campbellsville is lined mostly with historic brick buildings that are in use or at least kept in decent shape - we were trying for a spot in front of the coffee shop (somewhat of a landmark for townsfolk and a real classy storefront) but somebody took one of the spots while we were trying to persuade our big beasts into position, and the next best spot was a few doors up in front of the pawn shop.
