Din to 2-shaft adpt

I purchased a usa-630 head unit to get back to the old style look. Problem is the dash has been cut/previous owner for an aftermarket single din slot radio.
I tried using the "Metra 99-9001 Universal DIN To 2-Shaft" adapter. It fit in the single din slot nicely, however the radio hit the side rails of the adapter plate when trying to install from rear of panel. Any ideas of an adapter plate. The only other thing I have found is the 67-72 DASH FACE REPAIR PANEL Item Number: DFRP072 from BROTHERS. With that I will have to get someone to cut and weld it in which could be expensive. Is there an adapter plate out there that will work? thanks a million!
