I have an 800 Bosch. POS! I am going back to that big dial on the front that actually washes dishes. I am done with error codes and scouring the internet to find out what is wrong with this junker.

Yeah, the reviews I read were 98% positive, but some of the negative ones were pretty scary. But the wife wants it, and it's hard for me to argue against 98% positive. I just hope we're not in the lucky 2%.

Everything is going to **** quite honestly. I can't wrap my head around some heads I won't admit to that involves my truck. Actually three, apparently my window guy quit and he seems to have disappeared. Big bummer, he's been doing this for decades.

I get my wash machine in three weeks, because refrigerators come first and stuff like that. I'm not kidding.

Re: Don't you hate...

Wait, it gets worse... I called up the appliance company today and asked them when I could expect the dishwasher to ship - mid-July was the answer. I asked if I could cancel the order, and they were very polite; my card was credited almost before I got off the phone.

So then I jump on Home Depot's website to order it and... you guessed it - out of stock. Now I don't even have on on order.

COVID BS, and doesn't help so much junk is built in China from start. I guess we're supposed to be resource conscious while they build wash machines that last five years. I don't know what we're headed into, but masks is a good business to be in, and looks like N95 are available again. At least we have the security of knowing Amazon ships most everything within two days

I've been hearing that a lot of people are drawing unemployment instead of going back to work, so nobody to make things.

Even fast-food places around here are paying hiring bonuses to new employees, because there just aren't enough workers.

I've noticed that the guy that owns the mini market by my house has been working the cash register himself. He never did that before.

I went there last week and he was training a young girl to run the register. She looked like a deer in headlights. Clueless. I haven't seen her since and he's back to running things himself.

I took some business classes in high school and one of they things they taught us was how to count change the old fashioned way. They also had a work-credit program and I worked 20-30 hours at a bank after school and Saturdays of my senior year. My last semester I only had 2 or 3 classes in the morning and I worked the rest of the time.

Re: Don't you hate...

Not old man voice IMO, stuffs changed and it's not for the better. Where I live there have been hiring signs throughout the city for 6-8 months at least. Kicker is we're being inundated by Californians and south of the border, you'd think someone might be capable of working, but it's as though we're being trained not to.

In their youth my generation & before worked to buy cars & such, that was a normal affair. Today those are career jobs I suppose. Kids ran paper routes, which became too dangerous to continue yadda yadda. Something isn't right.

Re: Don't you hate...

I built a laundry room onto this house around '90. I'm still using the same washer and drier I bought, Maytag. They are gloss white squared edged flat and level on top with a chrome trimmed black face control panel that uses dials and buttons. About 15 years ago the washer started overflowing when set on medium load. So I've only done full loads since. Last year I got all dumb and hit the medium load button. I remembered and hit Large, but that didn't help. It would overflow on any setting after that. Part is no longer available. I go to Ebay with the part# and get a reconditioned pressure switch assembly for $20 and fixed it. I had people asking, "Why don't you get a new one?". Hmmm... where to start?

Re: Don't you hate...

When the washer that was in this house when we bought it had the tub rust through, we bought a new Maytag front loader. Special care has to be taken so that your clothes don't get all smelly, and the bearing is eventually going to wear out because the seal will leak water into it. It lasted about 13 years, iirc. Once it got bad enough, we replaced it with a Samsung front loader. Front loaders use less water, but if this one goes toes up before I die, we're going back to a top loader.

Re: Don't you hate...

Your water can make a big difference in how long a washing machine lasts.

When we lived in town the city water came out of the bottom of an old flooded coal mine

We have a well. We get about 4 years out of a washer. 7 years out of the water heaters.

The water at my house is cr@p. I use Sparkletts bottled water as much as possible. But I can't use it with the washer obviously.

I have a well at my other house. Eh. It's not much better. And it cost 4K to get that old well rebuilt when it got all jacked up. That was fun.

I've had a lot of trouble with the newfangled washer at the other place. It constantly needs to be reset. And the old dryer next to it always works fine.

My wife resets the washer when it acts up. I kick it and cuss it out.

I guess I'm just expecting things to last like they used to. Aint happening.

Re: Don't you hate...

I think it's neat old Chevy board members are into appliances too. I'll bet housewives don't have their own household website, and I'm starting to like Oprah & People's Court too.

Water can make a difference for sure. I've never had mine tested, but it leaves calcium every where it goes, hard water in other terms. Not enough to harm my sprinklers and wash machine, though the water heater gave out after eleven years, and after two dishwashers in 10 years I've gone the next 10 without one. Almost forgot, bought a new fridge 20 years ago, the ice maker quit after a year, knew that was coming. Ice trays never fail and take up less room too.

How much for that washer & dryer Tim
