Thanks Mike. I would like to have one of those steamers I see the upholsterers on TV use, but where we live these days it's not necessary. We just put it in the truck and let it sit. 100+ degree days make everything lay down...even the carpet. Really loving the latest iteration of your build btw.

...couldn't resist popping the caps on yesterday. Love me some P03s on white steel.

Where did you source the red hub dials from?

A picture is worth a thousand words as they say...check out post #10. They are NOS and my brother found them either on Craigslist or eBay....I'm not 100% sure which now. They weren't red...(NOS red dials are another set of hen's teeth that we couldn't come up with). They were yellow, but only a mean person with a knife would know that now...or someone with an internet connection...and eyes to see post #10.

oops... I should have looked further back in the thread. Thanks for info! I might try cleaning up my faded red dials and trying the same. Was SEM Flame Red #15373 used?

Don't sweat it. Definitely 15373 Flame Red. I took an original dial in to match it. It's a pretty solid match.

Re: 1969 K10 CST Full Restoration

Several things accomplished this weekend...still a longer check off list than I'd like. I'll try and post more pics tomorrow, but this was the highlight of the weekend (see link below). Started on the first try. These are her first spins. Started filming a few seconds after she caught and I was confident she was holding her water so to speak. Sounded pretty good for no carb or timing tweaks.

Re: 1969 K10 CST Full Restoration

As I'd previously noted we had a coolant leak associated with the top radiator hose. It is not a revelation that tower clamps are not ideal. I ordered fresh clamps (because they just really seem like a one shot deal). The first set were supposedly Wittek clamps. I picked up a set of date coded ones this time around, also labeled Wittek (they were not marketed as NOS and I am under no illusion that they are) but they seemed more substantial than the first set. I lightly lubricated the inner surface of the clamps and positioned them right behind the bead on the metal radiator pipe and similarly on the thermostat housing and radiator outlet. We ran her for a fair bit last night and topped off the coolant. So far so good.

Re: 1969 K10 CST Full Restoration

We got the cowl, antenna and wipers on over the weekend. The transmission was painted black and installed, and the antenna wire got routed. We didn't get the distributor 180 degrees off this time...but we did get the the wiper transmission 180 off. Luckily we checked it before the wipers went on...but unfortunately we didn't check it until the cowl with the hood to cowl seal was fully installed. Practice makes perfect as they say. Another thing I'll get to do over is the AC vacuum reservoir canister. I didn't notice it until I watched the first start video, but we dinged it fitting the hood. Of course I blame Classic Auto Air...we sent a box/bracket/canister that came off this cab. Not sure what I got back-but it didn't quite clear. Fortunately I think Roger Koop is going to be able to hook me up with a replacement. We had a bit of a weep at the oil line connection to the gauge. Tonight I trimmed the line and replaced the nut and ferrule-hopefully that sorts it...and Eric got the splash guards installed. The goal is to be on the road this weekend.

Thank you very much. It's been mostly fun. Inching toward the end.

Re: 1969 K10 CST Full Restoration

Nicest guy ever hooked us up with some NOS bullseye back up lenses. Got the rear brake lines re-bent. I just had too much downward bend in my first set at the spring bolts. My batting average on those double flares definitely went up as I went along. But it's still pretty low. Went through a bit of line to get those two done. Added the black center to the front caps at Pete's rightful urging. I believe they came both ways...but this makes them more symmetrical with the rears.

Re: 1969 K10 CST Full Restoration

Eric got the inner fenders in and detailed, and went through final panel tweaks. We spent the majority of yesterday evening working a to-do list that weirdly seem to shrink and grow at the same time. The big accomplishment before bed time was getting the brakes bled.

Re: 1969 K10 CST Full Restoration

It was too wet to try and get her out this morning, and there was still a lot left to do...so we made use of the time. We don't have every single i dotted or t crossed (and also the Dawgs kickoff was at 3:30) so we didn't push it to put her on the road today. But after lunch we were able put her in gear and drive her outside under her own power. It was nice to see her in sunshine. Maybe we can log some miles tomorrow.

Amazing! Great work guys. Happy for you. Let us know how the maiden voyage goes and may there be many enjoyable miles.

Anticipation is already building for your return the ring with the k20 after a well earned break.

Thanks Pete. And thanks for all your help. It'll be a while yet before we start the K20. I'm mailing this back to you...I think it's your turn now. I see you still collecting parts.

Speaking of thanks....the resource that this board is to us cannot be overstated. The generosity of spirit, support and collective knowledge is extraordinary. Learning is one of the best parts of this kind of thing and we learned a lot on this build. Of course we're not completely finished and I'll keep posting here, but I do feel like it's time to say thanks to all of you that helped will parts, info, or a kind word. Thanks OLDYELLOW for putting up with me and for your maniacal commitment to slick paint. And thanks to the mythical Hay Man 17 for finding us a real deal 69 KE SWB to work on.

If I've missed someone I apologize...but thanks to you all:

Another high quality build! You guys are impressive in your level of detail and the speed of the build. I enjoy seeing a truck that looks like it just rolled off the assembly line. Hope you’re able to spend some time riding in it, does your shop dog like going on rides?
