Grooves in Rearend?
Has anyone ever seen this before? It looks like maybe the U-bolts were tightend down to tight. Wondering if I should chunk the rearend and get another or if this one would be ok to use?

wow to me that looks more like it had alot of movement in the rear end and the u-bolts was not tight enough to hold it in place and it wore it out where it rubbed. Least thats my opinion on the looks of it.
I dont think it would be an easy fix either way. and sure wouldnt be cheap. almost easier to go to your local wrecking yard and find another rear end.

That is much more likely from being too loose and wiggling around.

Yeah to loose is probably right. The other trailing arm perch on the other side of th rearend is a little wore out ok alot wore out. I was pretty sure that I should just get another rearend but didnt know if anyone had seen this before or not and if it would be ok? Anyways anyone want a 67 chevy truck 12 bolt rearend?

Wow! I'm surprised that did not go all the way through the tube!
You may try CTC's Auto Ranch. The are just north of Denton right off of I-35 on the south bound side. They have around 15 to 20 67-72s. There also is another small salvage yard off of Collins road. They have several 67-72 trucks that are down to just the frame and suspension. The yard does not have a name. If you PM me I can give you directions or just take you there. Good luck! Keith |

yup, looks like the "u-Bolt was loose and over time, with vibration and all, just ate the rearend away, could have been worse and gone through to the axle... 8i just noticed mine were loose and tightened down on them both
