Road Trip in C30 1880 miles.
Ran my truck from Wichita Ks, to Sioux City Ia, then to eastern Pa. Beautiful trip this time of the year. Wanted to test all the mods I've made throughout the years. It performed flawlessly. I will admit though. A '70 short wheel base dually leaves many comforts on the table.

Re: Road Trip in C30 1880 miles.
In the late 80's early 90's my Grandpa had two dailys. A 72 C30 dump bed dually and an 86 then 89 Caprice. I think he drove the dually more. I spent A LOT of time riding around in it. I honestly can't imagine +/-1900 miles consecutively in one

Re: Road Trip in C30 1880 miles.
At one point in time all we had was a C/50 log truck and a VW Bug, and the VW was broke down more often than not.

Re: Road Trip in C30 1880 miles.
My wife and I take our C20 dually on the occasional local road trip of less then 250 miles a couple times a year. One in the beginning of summer before the summer crowd shows up, and another in the fall. Up through NH and maybe into VT, but I'm here to tell you, love the truck, but ready to be home after just a couple hundred miles! Can't imagine your trip!
Congratulations!!

Now known as "Iron Butt". I looked at a 1T stake bed a couple months ago. That thing rode like it didn't even have springs!

When I hauled logs over a 12K' ASL gravel road mountain pass, the trip back empty was as slow as loaded. The road was so rough that I had to use second gear both ways. I went through tail light bulbs like crazy and even cracked factory welds on the frame. It's now paved, they tell me.

<raises hand> Wimp, Aye! My 3/4T rides a "ton" better than that truck did! Especially with the trailer attached.

Re: Road Trip in C30 1880 miles.
Bet it was a fun trip. I did a 1400 mile straight through in my 72 K20. Only stopped for gas which was alot at 7.5MPG. Didn't miss not having a radio but cruise would have been nice. The only thing I don't like about dually are overload springs. If you can stay off them I think they ride pretty decent.

Re: Road Trip in C30 1880 miles.
You got me by a 100 miles. A was flying solo also. I did a other solo of 1400 miles a few months ago but that was in the jetta so it wasn't bad. Texas never seems to end when you are traveling.
