Expensive flat tire.

My wife had a flat tire. It took a couple days for the new tire to arrive.
So in the meantime she was driving my Corvette. I've owned it for years and she has never shown any interest in it.

That all changed. Suddenly she loved it and now she wants one for herself.

Long story short. We sold our 1970 Mustang and the hunt is on for another Corvette.

It's all good. We never drove the Mustang much. She'll get a lot more use out of the new car. It has cup holders for her Starbucks.

My biggest problem is that she wants a white one with red interior. Which makes it a pain. I've found a few but they always get sold out from under me. Apparently she isn't the only the only one that likes that color scheme.

I can't believe how fast that Mustang sold. I posted a not so great CL ad and wham! It was gone. On it's way to Japan.

And it all started with a flat tire.

Re: Expensive flat tire.

I had the same problem with my wife, she always rode in the passenger seat, but was never really happy sitting ocer there,so one day I said, take my old truck for a spin, she came back and well you know what happened,3 trucks later, she loved them all,and now I have a 1986 Ford Bronco, that WE are going to fix up for her,I created a monster from 1 test drive, and I counldn't be happier. When we got married,I asked her where she would like to go for a honeymoon, she said lets go see your relatives in SC and go to all the wrecking yards to get some parts for My project truck, love that girl!

Ain't that the way it goes Paul? never know what is next with these wives.. haha to bad she doesnt want a red one as red seems to be the most popular out side color still after all these years since Corvette came out.

She doesn't want mine. And I'm not going to argue with her. I know better.

Plus I REALLY like mine. The LS3 runs flawlessly with over 100K on the clock. I think it's the best car I've ever owned (Hey it's a Chevy. Right?). So I don't mind putting her in one too.

Re: Expensive flat tire.

Ha, ha, it happens. While not quite as expensive I lost a nice little 9mm pistol the same way one time. While at the range I let the wife shoot mine and she liked it much better than hers so I was out a pistol for a bit.

It's only money and you only go around once.

My wife won't even drive my Z28 or my Blazer. She's afraid she'd damage them. I tell her not to worry about it, but she's happy puttering around in her Highlander Hybrid.

My wife is the opposite. She has no problem putting the pedal to the metal. And unbelievably she has a totally clean driving record.

If she's driving...Hang on. It's going to be a white knuckle ride.

She's never met a gas pedal that she didn't like.

She drove an '06. Given the "laws of wives", it has to be a 2007 or newer or she won't want it

She doesn't want a convertible. Neither do I. Only because I just think that the coupes look better and they have a hardtop that pops off. And the coupes have the rear hatch which is pretty big. I can fit quite a bit of stuff in mine.

We have 2 convertibles already. Her Abarth and My Jeep CJ5.

You wouldn't know the Abarth is a convertible by looking at it. But it is.

I'm like your wife. I have never once taken the top off my Corvette. I have long hair and like to look pretty for the ladies.

And that little car is fast. When the turbo kicks in... Hang on.

Re: Expensive flat tire.

My daughter had to have a Mini Cooper. It's probably a little bigger then that. It is like driving a go cart and quick too. She is the exact opposite of my wife who wants a Tahoe.

They make it tuff when they have to have particular color combinations. When you find her the Vette she wants you will not be in a good negotiating position. Good Luck!

Re: Expensive flat tire.

Well we ended up getting a 2015 Z51 with 24K miles on it.

It's not white.

It doesn't have red upholstery.

It's yellow with a black interior. She changed her mind (What else is new)

It's getting shipped. So I don't have any pic's. The one's I tried to get off the dealer website came out about as big as a postage stamp. And if I tried to enlarge them the picture was so fuzzy it wasn't worth the trouble. So I grabbed one off the net. That's about as close as I could find. Same car. But we don't have black wheels or the goofy sticker on the windshield.

I will never understand women. She had to have white/red and this is what we got. Her choice.

Re: Expensive flat tire.

Whats the horse power in the ones she is getting Paul? My nephew gave me a ride in new Vette couple years ago and the G force I felt was nothing like I ever felt from my younger days down at the race strip we had near a small town I grew up by.. No comparison between a over 500 HP engine now days to the big blocks of the past that we had anyways .
I acually thought I had a fainting moment when he stepped on it..

Re: Expensive flat tire.

I do believe that the calipers came that color. My calipers are red. The yellow ones may be aftermarket. But I've seen them on other cars. I'll just keep the red ones. I like them.

It's 460 HP @ 6000 RPM. My Vette only has about 400 or something like that and it's plenty fast for me. I've only got on it hard a couple times. Once when I was stuck at a red light and a homeless guy was wiping windshields with a paper bag and a bottle of what looked like pee in it. He started heading my way and the light turned green. I floored it. I didn't want him near my car.
The other time was to beat a train. The crossing arms started coming down so I punched it. I worked next to a railroad yard and you could get stuck by one of those trains for 45 minutes if they stopped on the tracks. And they did it all the time. Anyone who knows Norwalk Blvd. in Santa Fe Springs knows exactly which crossing I'm talking about.
