Help me choose a paint/dust mask

I have a old charcoal mask that is falling apart, elastic is shot and just old. I,m looking for just a half mask for my nose and mouth, I wear eye glasses so those are better for me I don,t do alot of painting ,just a panel or something small. Do some hobby woodworking as well. As I get older the dust and fumes are starting to bother me. Way to many to choose from. Here are some from Amazon . What do you recommend or what brands. https://www.amazon.ca/Paint-Mask/s?k=Paint+Mask

Re: Help me choose a paint/dust mask

I like the silicone type half-mask; they seem to seal easily & easy to swap cartridges.
Personally I have a Wilson brand have used forever, but I don't see that brand listed anymore. This is basically the same thing here https://www.amazon.com/North-Medium-.../dp/B007IA9SIA
A North/Honeywell 7700 & get a filter 7583P1000L that is for organic vapors with P100 cartridge.

Re: Help me choose a paint/dust mask

For dust I like the disposable 3M 8511 mask, but they're hard to find these days.

For painting or fumes I have a 3M respirator. I can't remember the model number, but I can look it up when I get home. Looking at your Amazon link, I think it's the 7502.

Re: Help me choose a paint/dust mask

I've always preferred the fit of the 3M half mask, and being a "popular" brand, you can find cartridges at local supply houses that you know fit.

For dust I like to use the disposable 3M 8511 mentioned above.

Do you guys wear anything or just plain eyeglasses to protect your eyes during painting/gluing?

Re: Help me choose a paint/dust mask

thanks ,looks like 3-m mask are the one, read reviews on other brands and alot of them said that they broke in a week etc. I did read somewhere where a guy would use the good hepa filters for a furnace and cut them to fit his cartridge's .

Re: Help me choose a paint/dust mask

These are good masks . Only drawback with 3/4 face mask is if you have facial hair the effectiveness goes way down . If your spraying paints with hardner you should also cover exposed skin and your eyes.

Funny story - I wear reading glasses, and I need them to see how the paint is going on. I didn't think much about it until I tried to clean my glasses and realized the plastic had been etched by the solvents in the paint. Now I wear goggles over my glasses.
