Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread

Could you post up some shots of your engine mounts? Curious what the differences are from your V8 to my L6 mounts are.

Started a build thread finally, since you were prodding me, LOL.

sticking with the mechanical clutch, sticking with the stock gears (believe they are 3.73), first gear ratio is very close to the original 3speed, overdrive gear should make highway driving... a little more bearable and fuel efficient. Thanks for the comp too!

Brian on this page of my build there is a lay out photo of the 2 different frame mounts.

I have often wondered what the difference in frame mounts were between 6cyl and 8 cyl.
Back in 1982 I simply took off the engine mounts that were on my original 230 c.i., bolted them onto my 350 (long gone) and bolted both sides to the original frame mounts - without relocating or replacing them.

30 years later I still am running the same mounts.
Greg.

Re: CRGRS 66 – Winter Build Thread

Kind of excited today, picked up my 350, got it onto the engine stand. Just need to drop the tranny, and pull the O'l 283 out. Curious to see how the flywheel looks, assume it needs to be resurfaced, hope there aren't any cracks. Will be plopping the 283 on the skid that the 350 came out of, then it is time to tear down the front suspension, and prep the frame and firewall for paint.
