Re: How long have you had it......
My 72 C10 I have had for 5 years, this one I will keep. I had a 68 GMC before the 72, wish I could have kept both of them. Never sell tools or your truck.
Regrets.....

Re: How long have you had it......
The '72 K2500 I have now was the 'newer' one in the bunch. Time has passed and the bunch is gone, so it is now my veteran at 19 years. Bought it May of '01.
My '67 project is from parts. I bought a rolling chassis in '06 but some of the sheet metal I had for years. The cab I bought in '94. It keeps getting older and it hasn't even started being a truck yet

Re: How long have you had it......
I bought mine in March 1986. I was second owner of it. Never been wrecked and still has all the factory sheet metal it had new. Has a few small pieces welded in but no complete parts other than rockers.
The ramp truck is going on 5 years now!

Re: How long have you had it......
Make mine 3 years now. Only thing mechanically thing I did to it was brakes.
First pic is what it looked like when I got it. Second is what it's like now.

Re: How long have you had it......
I bought my 68 LWB 396CI in 1981 setting out behind a barn. freshened up the moter and drove it for about 10 years. then sat behind my place for years before i decided to revive it. so 39 years later I still have it, not running yet but hopefully not much longer.

Re: How long have you had it......
I honestly wasn't expecting this many long term owners. I think it's great. Since I have a lot of free time over the next couple weeks, all mine needs is a bit of brake work and it will be on the road again. Only been 4 years

Bought mine in 1985. My first vehicle. Hopefully, my kids will decide what to do with it one day.

35 years ago I found this one.
The pic was most likely taken the next day in OKC before the ride home..

Re: How long have you had it......
I have a 72 short wheel base step side I purchased in 1972. I purchased it from the Dept of Defense surplus. Was a C-10 Custom when I bought it. Had it for several years and took the cab and body off and put it on a 4X4 chassis. Drove it till the early 80's then took it off the road. Couldn't afford the gas. Currently under going frame off restoration for the past 18 years. Getting close, just need some body work and paint, and final assembly.

Re: How long have you had it......
24 or 25 years. Been torn apart 24 or 25 years. Drove it home and the tear down began. I have been fortunate to have a separate shop to leave it in. I go out and work on it when I feel like it then close the door until next time.

Re: How long have you had it......
My '67 came home on my birthday two Aprils ago, paid a buddy to haul it from MN. We're a few weeks out from two years of ownership.
Here's a pic of how it came to me, complete with dry- rotted bias plies and the front bumper polished smooth from what I assume to be years of driving over crops and grass. |

Re: How long have you had it......
Bought my '67 long fleet Custom August 3, 2006. It was a bit banged up but the price was right. Have the build sheet, Protect-o-plate, and complete owner history. I'm the sixth. I replaced the fender right away and started driving it. Every man needs an old Chevy truck.

Re: How long have you had it......
I had to go check the title for my 71 GMC 3/4 ton. My aunt gave it to me in 2005. My uncle got it for doing some carpentry work for a car dealer friend in 1978.
My uncle that had it in the cowboy hat with one of my aunts and another uncle all brothers and sister of my dad. I put a Chevy grill in it (all I could find) after my aunt wrecked it. I am still working at putting the 500 cad in that life got in the way of progress.
