If we need to lose weight, exercise, etc. we know. Blaming a doctor for not bringing it up seems odd.

I have my share of plastic too. But I don't have a CCW. Not exactly easy to get in Los Angeles. And when I moved to Kern I just never got around to it. So they only go to the range.

The point of this thread shines through. How sad to think we are talking brass knuckles and guns to defend against attacks upon a comedian for telling jokes. I though we were supposed to laugh at humor, not agree with it

It's called censorship. Some people only want to hear what they want to hear or they get mad. Even at dumb jokes.

I think my wife is one of them. She tells to shut up all the time.

Chances are if a comedian offends you 1) what they just said fits you to the tee, and 2) you shouldn't take yourself so damn seriously. You go to a comedy show to laugh, if you can't take a joke, don't go.

Re: Upside down, inside out, topsy turvy world we live in

We finally got a new governor and "constitutional carry" in MT this year

It's up to something like 20 states at last count. the last four or five in 2021 alone (so far).

I hear that they're no longer prosecuting "minor crimes" in CA now, or does that only apply to certain people?

I'm a high school math teacher finishing up my 25th year. Two years ago, a parent caused a huge ruckus because her 8th grade daughter wanted to be a boy named Noah......including letting "Noah" use the boys restroom facilities.
School would not honor Mom & "Noah's" requests and stuck to the birth certificate that had been given to the school upon registration where Mom enrolled her daughter. HUGE facebook stink arose from this that lasted most of the year! So last year, "Noah" enrolls with a medical condition where he/she had to be pushed around in a wheelchair, got to use faculty restrooms, and had a service dog part of the year. So COVID hit and "Noah" didn't show up to school in August........"Noah" showed up last week (no wheelchair or service dog) using her original female name, but now dressed as a boy and telling everyone she see's that "she's a lesbian and how cool it is to be so."

I think a lot of this stuff, at that age, is done for show. Crazy times. Mom has taken in a foster kid as well who is about the same age as "Noah." Foster kid claims to be LGBT as well.

I believe that you can do what you want to do as long as it doesn't infringe on the rights of others..........but don't subject everyone to your "whims" and attention getting schemes. And don't try to make me like it. Just my opinion.

I have a good friend who loves the ladies........like I do! He says that he doesn't blame lesbians for being that way.......he says if he was a woman, he'd be one too cause he like it!

By the way, I'm overweight and need to lose weight. Sadly, I ate a donut this morning, but it's OK because that donut identifies as a tomato, so it's all good.

Re: Upside down, inside out, topsy turvy world we live in

I think you guys are going off of outdated information here. Most healthcare facilities are bound by Medicare reimbursement. The government program makes healthcare facilities ask MIPS questions in order to get paid. Do you smoke, check a persons Body Mass Index, did you get the flu shot and other health related questions like that. The doctor is supposed to console you on these questions or at least attempt to.
If a healthcare facility wants to get paid they have to hit a certain percentage of MIPS documentation or that facility will get paid at a lower rate or wont get paid at all.

Makes sense to me. We have been going to the same doctor for at least 30 years and she knows us very well.
Asks us every time if we drink (nope) or smoke (never have) and a few other questions that she already knows the answers to.

I didn't start college until I was 37 so all their BS indoctrination didn't change me.

But I did get to see how the "elite" (and most of those they teach) absolutely hate working people that actually create all the stuff to make their cushy lives possible.

Re: Upside down, inside out, topsy turvy world we live in

My graphic overly simplified example of proof the world is turned upside down, inside out, topsy turvy is twist ties. Yep! I'm 65 years old and all my life it seemed everyone in the world knew the standard to be "righty tighty lefty loosey". Also turn to right is on and turn to left is off on switches. It goes without saying how greatly beneficial it's been for everyone to already know this. Pure no-brainer in this world of complications. But now... WTF??? Get a loaf of bread or any other thing held shut with a twist tie and odds are 50/50 you'll be tightening that twist tie when you turn to the left... ARGH! How did they take simple and screw it all up?

That drives me nuts too. I just bought some buns and it took me 5 minutes to get the twist tie to open. It was all knotted up. I was ready to just rip the bag open.

Another thing is packing tape. What kind of freakish science experiment super glue are they using for that stuff these days. It won't pull off. I always have to use a razor blade to open a package which makes me nervous because I don't want to slice what's in the package.

They make that stuff so it's like a snake that wants to jump out of your fingers and get back stuck on the roll like you never touched it! Evil, I tell ya I think it's Duck brand that makes an "easy start" version, which is easy-er a bit.

Also, , I have come close to ripping a bag or two myself. Good thing I keep a container of good twist ties, bread bag tabs (make great plug wire markers, too), and rubber bands in supply so I can throw away the mangled piece of wire that took gall dern side cutters to cut so I could get at my dang potato rolls so I could fix myself a doggone sammich!

I have mutilated a few boxes in my day. It just gets frustrating and you just start ripping and tearing.

Interesting thought.

I usually go with "none of my business" as long as it's consenting adults.

But after a while they want to shove it in your face and make it your business

Bad planning on your part does not necessarily constitute an instant emergency on my part....

The great thing about being a pessimist is that you are either pleasantly surprised or right.

If a healthcare facility wants to get paid they have to hit a certain percentage of MIPS documentation or that facility will get paid at a lower rate or wont get paid at all.

I totally agree people need to take more ownership for themselves
But the contradiction to that is that being a smoker is nolonger a penalty in the health insurance game. Smokers are lumped in with everyone else. It bugs me that as a nearly 58 year old guy who has never smoked, I get to share in the rate increase that comes from grouping smokers in with the rest. It is a known issue that virtually no one escapes without some kind of medical problem.

The twist tie thing comes from the machines that they use. (duh, no kidding) I mean that it depends on the machine in the fact that some of them are known as X-twist. That means that it alternates the twist. We had one like that in a packaging plant I worked in years ago. It turned clockwise one time and counter-clockwise the next.
Back then it had to do with the internal mechanism. It couldn't keep going the same way all the time. There was something inside that would have been wound around the mechanism. These were faster than the older machines that ran only one way. It's been over 30 years though, so I don't remember exactly, just that there was indeed a reason for it.

This stuck me funny. Without even taking it out of context. Thanks for the info.
