Cool BB! I REALLY appreciate that you are willing to work for what you want! So many expect to just have stuff, without understanding the need to work for it.

Re: Just a kid with a dream

Cool to see another younger guy doing things.. I was helping another younger guy, he was 15, had his permit and was getting his brothers 01 full size. While his parents were out of town, he slid a cam in it and put springs on the heads. Then he had me do heads and tune shortly after.

a year later, he decided it wasn't enough so he ordered up a 408 stroker. Had the machining done, put it together himself. Then swapped it in the truck along with a 4L80E from the 4L60E that was in it.

He is now 17, driving a 408ci LS based truck backed with a built 4L80E. I was very impressed with his motivation and drive..

Looks good man. I am in the same boat as you. I am 16, bought a 70 C10 as my first truck, has a crate 350 in it with some tricks in it. In the middle of getting back halfed. Believe me you will have a lot of people talk sh-- about what your doing and its a waste. Don't let it get to you. My opinion is I would rather be able to say that I have bought every part on that truck except Christmas stuff. Then have mommy and daddy give me everything which they wouldn't do anyway. This stuff isn't a waste at all I go to school with so many kids that all the do is spend money on dr--gs and stuff that gets you into nothing but trouble. But you seem smart enough to stay away from that stuff good luck man.

Way to be. I remember in highschool at the drags, had some kid in a brand new mustang w/ his hat on sideways ask me if I wanted to race for 1000$. Its funny how out of touch some of them are w/ reality. He had a hard time trying to act badass when him and 2 girls he was w/ all jumped when I started my truck in the staging lanes w/ open headers. Keep doin your thing, if anything feed off of them, and put yourself in a crowd that's into doin the same stuff your into.
Anyways, Good luck w/ it all, and the parts look badass. Stoked to see it come together.

The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Re: Just a kid with a dream

When it's driving, go weigh it. Get a front axle weight and total weight. We will be able to figure out the front springs length/rate fairly easily from there.. The rear coilovers, it will depnd on if you put them in front or behind the axle and how far in front/behind they are.

IMO you don't need coil overs in the rear. Just the right spring and adjustable shock.

Re: Just a kid with a dream

I bought a set of Greg weld racing rims they are reasonably priced and look good. I have 15x7 in the front with the sportsman tires. And I am going to put 15x12 in the back with 29x15.5. Heres a pic of the front rims and tires.

Re: Just a kid with a dream

I am not positive the prices went up if you have a summit catalog handy there listed in there. When I bought them 4 months ago I paid about 600 for the tires, rims, having them mounted and balanced, shipping, and lug nuts. I know the 15x12 cost 195 a piece.
