Well ran into a issue with the an fittings going on the FiTech EFI. I want to run my fuel line and return line like it would be on a carb. Meaning enter and exit on the passenger side. So with a 45 or a 90 an fitting it was hitting my drop base on my air cleaner. I have a 1.25 drop base. So the only way this would work would be put the inlet fuel on the front or rear drivers side of the FiTech and angle the fitting towards the middle you would have to do the same to the return on the passenger side as well. Well I did not want to run the fuel line across the front of the FiTech or run the return line and put a bend in the line to run it back to the passenger side or run the return all the way around to the drivers side then around the front so it would make it back to my tank on the passenger side. So I just order another base and a 3" filter. So this is something you all might need to know. If using a drop base and give a crap about a clean install. I will not put a 90 degree fitting unless I absolutely must. 45 is better for fuel flow. So what I have left is the tank and waiting on the base. Got the 2 fan wires hooked up the ac wire hooked up and the o2 sensor installed.

Or I could put a .5 spacer on the carb flange under the base but I can't do that cause the air clear kid will be hitting the hood. So for me I had to order a new base and filter. The pleasure of running a tall single plane intake and a 1" carb spacer. The new base and a shorter filter should make it work out just how I want it. If not well I will be angleing my an fitting towards the middle.

But I may be over reacting cause I am tired and my back is killing me from being humped over in the engine bay for 2 days lmao. Gotta love getting older.

It will work with a drop base if you angle the fitting towards the middles of the FiTech. That's not what I wanted to do so I will see if this new base and filter will fit under the hood if so I will do as planned if not I will angle fittings towards middle. Besides that the FiTech is straight forward install nice setup. Nice harnesses covered in nice braided loom nice connectors.

Found another place that has the GM weather pack clips. I don't know which one will work but I will find out. I think this should be included with the FiTech for mounting the harnesses. Better than zip ties.

Are you going to use the unit to control timing or run it in fuel only mode.

As of now no I am not going to let the FiTech control it. But I am goin to try both ways and see which way I like the best. But it is a kick ass feature. That I will try. No other efi system offers this. Which is a great feature.

You know what I am just going to wire it so the FiTech controls it all hell nothing to change a wire around.

Just seems like a great feature. Easy as hell to make timing changes instead of removing the cap and switching some springs and weights although once it is dialed in you wouldn't likely touch it again.

Ok just got home and looked. I do not have the violet and green wire that you have to connect to the dizzy for timing control. Hmmm. Calling FiTech now. If not no big deal my **** is dialed in.

The FiTech EFI and a dizzy lol. That's about it and make your connections.

Any 2 wire distribuer, separate box or not. It won't work with HEI or ready to run style.

Brain fart lol. It is on the back already wired with a 2 pin connector setup.

Also with timing control you must have the tach wire connected. And you can not splice or tap the tach wire for the FiTech. It must have its own tach signal. This is what I was told. But if you look at the wiring diagram it does not show this.

Interesting. Where do you connect your tach then? Maybe this is a dumb question. I just woke up from night shift

I didn't realize it worked with a ready to run style. Ive just been looking over FITech wiring diagrams.

I know the FItech will work with any distributer style in Fuel only mode but you can't control timing with an HEI or ready to run style can you? Maybe I'm ready the wiring diagrams wrong. I haven't checked with their tech support.

Ok spoke with the mechanic at FiTech. He said it will not work with a big cap HEI. And you can tap the tach wire.

Also the mechanic told me I need a relay for my fuel pump. I told him I am happy he told me that cause the directions did not say anything about that. So another hold up. I am ordering a fuel pump relay kit.
