Found a nice original C-30

Found this out in Steamboat Colorado and made a deal
It has 51k original miles on it with a Omaha truck body
Needs some TLC but it is a very nice survivor

How much rust?

Re: Found a nice original C-30

Oh you know they are all for sale....LOL
How have you been?
Actually the only rust on this one is the passenger front fender pocket and that is probably from a battery leak?
I figure I will clean up the interior, re-cover the seat and replace the dash pad then store the racks and enjoy it as a flat bed for a while.

Re: Found a nice original C-30

Congrats - that's a good truck. After driving everything from C10 to C80 from those years, I think the C30 easily is the best truck Chev built at that time. (3500 for the CMC). Stronger components, better front suspension/steering aspects, often heavier rear, etc.. If you find one with single rear wheels, even better IMHO.

I recently converted a very low mileage C30 (1972) from a Motor Home to a cab/sleeper/flatbed-with-gooseneck-ball setup. I'm biased - think it is sweet. Drove it about 100 miles to a vehicle auction yesterday. All fun.

Re: Found a nice original C-30

I NEVER find any C30s in SC. A friend of mine here somehow found a 67 C30 flatbed tow truck with no rust that he was going to sell me because all he wanted was the seats out of it. He changed his mind though, and gave it to his son.

No doubt Jerry! I am in the "beyond 50 yard line club"...
Thanks again all here are a few more pictures that I took. I am frying to figure out keeping the racks but re-sizing them a lot shorter since they have fold up capabilities anyway. Fun stuff.

Re: Found a nice original C-30

Not sure if my join date gets me in the "official old-timers club" --- but I love the C-30 nonetheless ---

Was browsing CL just yesterday for a one ton --- was sorta' looking for square body crew cab though - would love a tow vehicle with some style

I like the cimbination grain and fold up cattle racks on these old trucks. Some like GIANT were very ornate with pinstriping down the stake platform and on about every board on the rack.
I helped my cousin cut one down for his 67 F-350, comes in very handy for keeping your load where it belongs...really nice for hauling wood or brush.

Re: Found a nice original C-30

Very nice find. I'm looking for a set of towing mirrors exactly like the ones you have on that truck for my 70 C-30 project, but they're not a priority. Still, I like the rounded corners on that style. Nice truck
