Dash difference 74 and other years

I picked up a 74 C10 a week ago and am finding some vendors advertise a dash bezel for a 73-87 and some offer 75-80, etc. What is the difference? I would hate to spend what they are asking only to find out it will not work on my truck.

Also, why is the woodgrain 74 so hard to find that a cut out one is on eBay for so much??

Please help educate me on the 74 model...

There is a difference in how it’s shaped, so the bezels won’t fit very good. The wood grain is more expensive because it’s rare, with having the wood grain. I’ll do a search that will give you better info on this subject. I know I have seen this subject discussed before.

Well this is where LMC comes in handy. Look on their website and see how they have them listed by model years.i believe they go 73-80 & 81-87

Re: Dash difference 74 and other years

'73-74 Bezels are specific to those years, the area around the headlight switch and wiper switch is the biggest, most obvious difference.
The newer bezels, up to '80, will work on the '74 but you will have a large opening that exposes the headlight switch behind the bezel and the wiper switch won't be in the correct location. I'll try to dig up a couple pictures that show this difference, I had a '75 and newer bezel in my '74 until I could find the correct '73-'74 bezel for it.

Re: Dash difference 74 and other years

Amazing stuff - thank you all!

Guess I need to find a correct dash panel. I am converting mine back to stock. Now that I know the differences I will keep an eye out for one!

Re: Dash difference 74 and other years

Your bezel looks to be correct. Someone looks to have added the brushed aluminum piece and modified the upper A/C duct. Radio knobs are also from a newer model GM.
