I could be wrong but I think around 1988.

Correct. The change came with the change to "R" and "V" series, as opposed to the previous "C" and "K" series

So that would've been 87...

I think my 1985 C10 had that SPID but she had the Northeastern weight loss problem and went away to the big interstate in the sky in 2001.
I can't go look for a sanity check and I have CRS or so I'm told by SWMBO.

Re: Question, what year did they change the SPID in the glove box.

'87 used the previous (larger) style SPID.

Re: Question, what year did they change the SPID in the glove box.

"she" who?

'87 was the first year for the R/V designation, and used the large SPID.

The GMT400 platform was introduced in 1988, used the C/K designation and went the small SPID.

Re: Question, what year did they change the SPID in the glove box.

My 1987 v10 pickup has the smaller 3 digit rpo code only spid, not sure that it helps but I am seeing either here.

Wonder if when they changed over was plant dependent...
Keith might know.

Re: Question, what year did they change the SPID in the glove box.

FWIW, It wasn't a sweeping change across GM, the smaller S-series trucks had the newer RPO style stickers earlier. My 86 had it.
