73 4x4 plain jane hubcaps or not

Just bought a 73 gmc 4x4. I have a 73 chevy cheyenne super that is supposed to have the full hubcaps like a 72.

Just wondering if the plain 73 had no caps from the factory? I am thinking it had none. What do yall think?

I don't remember for the 4x4's, but I think most all 2wd came at least with painted dog dish hub caps. I do remember seeing lots of 4x4s with nothing on them, but that could have been by choice.

Re: 73 4x4 plain jane hubcaps or not

What does your SPID in the glovebox (or maybe on the top of the inner fender) say the truck was ordered with? You can reference the vehicle information kit here, https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/doc...olet-Truck.pdf
Page 29 outlines the available Bright Metal (chrome) options for hubcaps/wheel covers/trim rings
Page 48 goes into detail with what was standard on the different trim levels. Chrome hubcaps were standard on Cheyenne and Cheyenne Super trim levels except where it states and exception based on tire/wheel equipment ordered.
According to the info packet the base model 'Custom' and Custom Deluxe trims K-series did not get hubcaps as standard equipment, only two wheel drive got painted caps (white with ochre bowtie).

'73 hubcaps looked very similar to the caps used on '72 truck- with exception of the bow tie color changed to ochre/yellow and the 3/4 ton caps being concave in the center instead of convex.

Re: 73 4x4 plain jane hubcaps or not

My new 73 Chevy K20 had NO hubcaps. I don't know if the split rims could even hold a hubcap?

And I remember when my mom bought her 1971 K10. It didn't come with hubcaps either so she made a big fuss about (as she is wont to do … ) so the dealer found some hubcaps and cut big holes in two of them so they would fit over the front hubs.

I can't remember hubcaps or not on my new 1980. I'd have to go dig out an old picture.
