Re: Power steering gear box fitting

If you had power steering on your truck just remove the fitting, spring and valve in the old pump, everything should be the same!

Re: Power steering gear box fitting

I did not swap the spring and valve (yet) from my pump on the 350, and the steering is VERY "loose" feeling, I need to change the internals!

Re: Power steering gear box fitting

Same here, I had the LS style o-ring/fitting and swapped to an earlier flare style fitting. I haven't fired it up yet with this set up but I did use the early spring valve. The spring looked the same but the valve appears to have a different size hole.

Wink Re: Power steering gear box fitting

I also took the fitting off my old pump and just put it on the LS pump and it works great. I also have new S/S hoses coming from (PICKMUP)
a memeber on here for it. Here is his link.

Do you have the new one from the LS pump to compare the length with the old one, and did you change the spring also?

yes take that "nut" out and it is the fitting. What I show in this pic is the newer metric 18mm o-ring fitting. I the valve and spring is behind this. Just unscrew this out and swap your old one in. Now I don't remember 100% and I don't know if I swapped the guts out or not. I need to look in my old pump. cause I just put it all back in the old one for safe keeping.
I did mine about 10 years ago and not had any issues.
I am about to swap to hydroboost and thought about using this new style fitting and stuff but it sounds like maybe I better just stick with what is currently in there and use it with the right hoses.

Russell Performance sells them. I'm not sure exactly what sizes are used on the box/pump, but here is what they have.

-6 AN to 16mm x 1.5 o-ring seal - 648060
-6 AN to 14mm x 1.5 o-ring seal - 648070
-6 AN to 18mm x 1.5 o-ring seal- -648080
