Yep, another rusty K-20 and swap meet score.

You guys (and gals) have it made in the dry states. And this one has had a cab swap and was redone in the 80s even. No buffing out this one! Has some good parts, but probably not worth saving.
Hit up a swap meet on the way home and found a few goodies there also.
Enjoy the pics.

Looks about 75% rust free yet. Glass looks good! Good thing they ran mud flaps to save the paint from unsightly chips

Eesh! I'm from NY... seen way worse, but that's pretty bad!

If you cut up the cab I'd be interested in the drip rails around the door if they're solid (they actually appear to be?)

The "tetanus shot" joke was pretty funny.

That truck is what mine looked like before the bondo job in 1990.

Nice score on another K20. I found a 70 K20 burb that had a massive tree fall on it that is about as bad as your truck here. Nice parts scores too!

It is 75% rust free. Missing metal doesn't count as rust. I wouldn't be surprised if the windshield was rusty too....

Since it doesn't run at the moment, I hope it doesn't run like that for 45 years. The PO said it ran great when he parked it due to loosing the brakes.

Thanks. The parts score was at the MN state fairgrounds, and the truck was from Mankato area.

Funny, the pics actually make it look better... If you look at the drivers door handle, or where it would be, that is a hole through the door so you couldn't even bolt a handle to it.... but maybe with an awesome set of tools...

That's one truck those aftermarket doors just might fit. Just push up on the roof to close. I have seen California trucks rustier than that... seriously.

Looks like another farm truck. Drop in a 800 horse power big block Chevy in it and go racing. Watching that truck pick the front tires off the ground and run ten seconds or even nine with all the weight rusted off. I bet peoples jaws will fall open. I'll be watching for it.

Yeah, these were coastal trucks. I had a '72 Blazer from New Mexico in the early-80s I found in Virginia. Never driven in Eastern winter. The owners had come East and discovered Assateague Island National Seashore. There were beach vehicle permit stickers on the bumper and rust bubbles in the lower front rear quarters. I actually bought it for parts but started thinking to restore. I washed it down/flushed it out when I bought it, drove it some, and washed it out really well a few more times. That salt gets in the pores of the metal and keeps on eating. It wouldn't start, no fuel out of pump. New pump, same thing. That's when I noticed the gas smell in back and all the dead grass. Tank had a Hickey skid plate and from salty sand being between the tank rotted out. I dedicated it to parts and it just kept on rotting from the bottom up. One day I went to it and the hood was up. I thought someone had been messing with it till I saw it was still latched and the hinge springs pulled the skin apart. It had really nice tinted glass, though! Chrome bumper still looked great, too. The original owners probably enjoyed the great dunes out there and had no idea how different that beach sand is

Re: Yep, another rusty K-20 and swap meet score.

special-K You are correct. If the salt gets in, it can slowly but methodically destroy a vehicle. My good friend went ONE time to the coast in his 1970 Mustang. The rest of the time was spent in Texas, and garaged. Even though He tried to wash it very well , the damage was done and years later the car looks like a northern winter car, rust everywhere. Pretty tough stuff that salt.
