Time for an oil change

Well it's time for my trucks first oil change since I got it. It's a 1984 Silverado with a 350 with a bit of work done. The last owner used royal purple 5w-40. Should I stick with the same oil? I dont mind the price of royal purple and that seems to be the only negative thing people say about it. I want to get a royal purple filter as well but cant find any local stores that sell it. Any recommendations

Re: Time for an oil change

wix premium filter is good .

nothing wrong with royal purple . its just a full synthetic oil . not sure on the 5w-40 for that old a engine . they tended to be 10-30 or 40 . but if its working run it .

If I'm in a hurry I buy my Wix filters from O’Reilly also. But If I plan in advance I order them from Filter1.com. Much cheaper then any auto parts store near me. Free shipping if you spend $50.00 or more. Advance auto parts and O’Reilly Auto Parts both carry Royal purple near me.

Re: Time for an oil change

My best option would be a napa one then because being canadain my options are napa/wyatt/lordco or canadian tire.. has anyone tried the napa platinum? How much better then the gold?

Re: Time for an oil change

Why not a ACDelco PF1218 or order a PF35L online?
