12v '78 crew cab

I posted about this truck last year when I bought it. It had been sitting in someone's yard for ten years and I always wanted to buy it. Last year they put a for sale sign on it and I bought it, got it running and drove it home. Plans were to restore it but i ended up driving it every day, after I did floor pans and rockers. I put over 10,000 miles on it and now that it's winter it's time for that restoration. I'm currently fixing all the rust and doing the interior with leather and nos plaid materail. After I'm finished with that it will be going to Peak diesel here in town for the 12v Cummins swap. I'll post more pictures later on.

Very nice truck you have there. The 12v swap will be well worth it!

Re: 12v '78 crew cab

Thanks guys. Here's some pictures of when I did the floors, rockers, carpet, 73-4 grill, and when I blew the original engine and swapped it out for another 350.

Re: 12v '78 crew cab

That's my favorite grill! I hope I can fit the intercooler and AC condenser behind mine like I want to on my 76 when I go to the 73/74 grill.

Mine too. I don't have the AC to deal with but getting the intercooler and radiator in there is one of my next battles.

Some pictures of the rust repair in progress. I'll be adding all the side moldings and possibly painting the center to match the wheels I had powdercoated.

Re: 12v '78 crew cab

And some shots of what's going on with the interior. I didn't want to take the front seat apart because it was in such good shape so I'll save that for another truck. I picked up another seat that's in really rough shape that I'm going to save.

I was able to find this NOS vinyl on eBay. It matches the truck perfectly.

We make bolt-in custom / conversion radiators for your application, right here in the USA using domestically sourced materials. Each radiator is built by hand and we use dual 1" thick cores, for a total core thickness of 2" (same overall thickness as a brass & copper 4-core).

We NEVER charge extra for engine swap port locations, steam ports or built-in transmission coolers.

We are a Gold Vendor and support this forum, and offer a forum-member discount ($25 off a radiator / $20 off fan & shroud package). Retail price is $470, and members of this forum get a discounted price of $450.

Hit me up with any questions or for a quote.

That dash pad looks awesome! Where did you get the cover at for it? That is the color I'm going to with my 76 if I ever get to it.

Re: 12v '78 crew cab

That cover is really nice. I have been pondering the thought of learning how to do that so I can make a cover like that. Maybe not quite as nice as that, but I think it would be fun to try.
