ACTIVATION! Finally. Questions. UPDATE new pics (9/18)page2

I have been reading this website nonstop since monday. All day at work, all day and night at home. For some reason i was denied membership when i first applied but im finally here. Me and the wife purchased this

I was kinda lost on what i wanted to do with it. Then she sent me this link to this site and now i know exactly what i want. I look forward to starting my own thread build very soon.

Very excited to be here.

1 really quick and easy questions.
1) When using Por 15 on the underside of, say the bed, do you have to paint over it, or can it stay unpainted?

Re: ACTIVATIOOONNNNN!!!!. Finally. Questions.

Welcome to the boards.
The POR on the bottom side... while it will be in the constant shade, UV rays WILL still get to it and it'll end up comprimized on it's protection (this is assuming it is a driver/lives outside) I would recomend painting it myself. We did the under side of an S-10 a couple years ago at work, and I saw it a couple months ago and it is looking sad under there.
I gotta say, your truck looks sweet. What's the details on it? Got anymore photos? we love pics!

Welcome from socal. You get more out of the board than what you put into it. Now change your name from pink to blue, you won't regret it especially if you are going to put work into your new truck.

Its a 1971. Its a chevy, not a GMC. I like the gmc double head light setup. It has a built inline 6 in it now. Plans are 396, or a 454. I want to fix some of the rust spots on it, better suspension, and then just go from there. I will post all the pics i have now with hopes of recommendations on where to go. It does have a wood bed also, gas tank moved. I pick the truck up tomorrow.

Nice truck.

That must be one of those rare "hind sight" GMCs. With those you can "C" backwards.

Just a word of advice, before you blow it apart DRIVE it and enjoy it for a little while. Tearing them down takes no time, but for some reason putting them back together is a different story!

Later, Rg

Absolutely. Im not tearing anything apart that wont make it driveable. IM doing the rear end of the vehicle first. Frame prep, bed work, new wood, that sorta thing.. It will always be drivable until i get to the front of the vehicle...

I see it has a blazer tank with a cool caps filler. Pretty cool.

Nice truck and a great start for a project truck.

Good deal, you'll get to see why we like these old trucks (and also why we sometimes hate them!)

By the way, I first saw a 2wd Blazer when I was in drydock in Bremerton, Washington, and swore I'd have one one day...

Re: ACTIVATIOOONNNNN!!!!. Finally. Questions.

Just wanted to say hi!!! I'm the WIFE of lyrikz. I must say that I'm so excited about this project. I know lyrikz has been dreaming of the day he can own his own "hot rod" and he's had his eye on an old truck for some time now.

I'm glad we've finally been allowed to join. I was almost in tears when they denied our activation.

Look forward to getting to know you guys. I'm sure we'll need a lot of through this project.

Oh and I love the smilies.

thats me
