Dash

Ok so I'm looking at this picture taken in January 1969 of a prototype dash. It looks like it was refined and put in the square bodies but it made me wonder since it started as a concept dash in our trucks if a square body dash could be made to fit and if so has anyone ever done it?

Re: Dash

I have seen 60-66 put in a squarebody and our years, so I would imagine the squarebody should fit. Most people I know are not keen on the squarebody dash and prefer the older ones like our or prior years.

Re: Dash

Thats a good question. If I used a Square body dash I could then use a locking steering column.

Re: Dash

Myself, I prefer the key in the dash and the way the PRND2L pointer works over the squares little cable configuration.

Re: Dash

See I wouldn't mind the key on the column cause I learned to drive in trucks from the 90's and since I never plan on putting an automatic in the truck I don't have to worry about needing any of the indicator stuff. But I think it'd give the truck just a different enough look to make people stop and stare.

Re: Dash

You would have to cut 3 inches out of the square dash . Piller to piller on my 85 is 63 inches 72 is 60" . Then there is how do you customize the dash pad ?
