1967 K20 Manual Steering Rebuild Kit

Morning everyone,

I have searched high and low and have not been able to find anything to rebuild my manual steering box. I have decided to attempt to install a Prius EPAS setup in my truck and will be documenting the process. In order to do that, I want to first rebuild my manual steering gear as there is a little bit of binding in it. I know that I can send it to Redhead, or Blue Top Steering, but I want to attempt to do this on my own first. Does anyone know where to get a rebuild kit? Is the manual box made by Saginaw? I can't seem to find a manufacturer name on it or a model number for that matter.

Thanks, Clay

Hi Clay, I believe the boxes are Saginaw's . I have a spare box off of my 67 k20 that I don't plan on using if you end up needing parts, feels fairly smooth.

Thanks
Nick

Thanks Nick, I will keep it in mind. I still want to try to tear into it to see how it works. :-)

I just don't want to do it until I know I can get parts.

I'm pretty sure I have what you need. Pop me a text. You can come over and take a look. Photo pages you need. Plus, you will see what you need to buy off ebay that will cover darned near everything. I have a manuals that cover steering adjust and repair for Saginaw Recirculating Ball and Worm & Nut gear: Covers adjustments and repairs.

Re: 1967 K20 Manual Steering Rebuild Kit

I bought a new Saginaw manual gearbox for my '68 C/10 on-line* about 25 years ago.
Was around $200 then.
[*Internet was a ''new thing'' then.]
I don't remember the vender.
Part still works good.
