Pontiac "C-10"

I know this thread is not about hybrid a bodies, but someone had an "El Cabrito" here on the local c list a while back. It was a 66 or 67 El camino with a 66/67 tempest front clip. Looked to be a bolt on! I also recall seeing a 68-72 el camino with a Buick skylark clip. I think that it required more mods though.

ha, not so much. I DO actually like the Pontiup, but not a big fan of things made just to cornfuse numbskulls like me. All hail the poncho... My biggest "one that got away" story involved a 65 goat with tri-power/4-speed ($1800....) And I DIDN'T buy it. Now THAT's Chevy loyalty... (and dumb).

I hear ya. I passed up on so many cheap '65 GTOs (and everything else) around here in the early '80s because of rust in rear 1/4s. That used to mean the car was done,unless you could find N.O.S. quarters or had mad sheet metal skills.

I pretty much agree,when it comes to bodies. Augmentation ruins that natural feel. This one coulda been worse...C/10 parts on a Trans Am?

To me, it shows someone who has some ability to think of and create something a little different which is a very big part of this hobby in my opinion.
He definitely is NOT being another copy cat or 'also ran' in his customization department ....ya' gotta like that.

I think all the Pontiac, Buick, Olds clips will bolt on, but none of them will just blend with the Chevy Elco doors, to really do any of these and make them convincing you really need to make up a full side from doors and quarters from a wagon joined and recut for the 2 door body. I've seen pics of an Olds version as well. Personally I think the Buick GS one looks the best.

Those are so cool! I really like the one at the beginning of this thread. Maybe I'll convert my C20 into an "Oldsrolet 4420"? That would be kinda cool, right?

Wouldn't it be Cabriomino and Alondromino so as not to confuse the gender? Then again the original is named after a trail in Southern California so Maybe gender confusion isn't really an issue.

You're right. Wouldn't want to be confusing gender. How about Cabramina? Or Alondramina? I know Camino means Road,trail,etc. But,what does El mean?

Is that the one Chevy named it after? Because there are also Hotel Monte Carlos in Barcelona and Seville,Spain...maybe others. The one on the Riviera is probably the original. And,HEY! I just realized the connection between the Riviera and Monte Carlos. Back in 81/82 or so I hooked up with the gal I ended up marrying,who had two kids. I had a '71 K/20 and wanted a Chevy family car from the same year/era for my new family. I decided since I had a rough & tumble truck,it would be cool to have a smooth comfortable glide ride (already bought a '55 wagon). It seemed the Monte Carlo would be perfect,since I didn't want to get too far away from the sportier Nova/Chevelle end of the line. That's when I stumbled on the '63 Riviera I bought. I looked at it and it hit me,"this is the same type of car". It's the car that started the whole personal luxury line for GM that came out in the late-60s. But,I never saw the connection in the names. Hmmm...Grand Prix,that's French,too!

You're right. What was I thinking? It's so obvious. That one is an El Camino II. Sounds better than Staroad
