why so much hate towards this company? ive placed a few orders with them and everything seemed to be just as described. the customer service is good to, i dont see where people are getting there opinions from but every encounter with them has went smoothly. just curious. example of personal experience with them would be great too!

Re: lmc?

I've ordered a few parts from them, and all went well.

Where is the hate coming from, and why?

Re: lmc?

I don't necessarily have a deep hatred for the company, its just that id prefer to use parts made in Canada or the USA on my truck if at all possible. Seems like alot of the stuff from Lmc is Chinese or Tiawanese.

Just a quick look in this section (vendor reviews) i saw 4 different threads about LMC. Both good and bad.

Re: lmc?

Not necessarily hatred however:

Screws that for some reason I cannot find anywhere else - $2
4 Headlight bezel screws - $4

Shipping for all these screws- $12

Called them to see if they could adjust their shipping, was told "no".

Re: lmc?

Twice I have emailed them to quote me for freight on parts, twice they have generated an invoice and two days later the quote for freight. twice I have to cancel the order. two small springs USD$54.00 freight. 2 mirrors = USD$296.44! Obviously not interested in overseas orders. I don't hate them...I just won't use them!

Exactly! I use LMC often but if there is an option to use a NOS part, a higher quality part from a different vendor or a good used part I usually go that route. The reality is LMC is the most aggressive with having many parts made where they wouldn’t be available anywhere else other than used. Some used parts are just not an option. For that I am grateful for LMC.

For example, LMC sells a pretty pathetic Taiwanese 73-87 fuel tank where a much higher quality Spectra fuel tank is available elsewhere (Napa, Rockauto, etc.). The Specra tank is made in Canada and is made of very high quality galvanized material and fit and finish is OEM quality…..the LMC tank, not so much. By the time you pay the higher price for the Spectra tank through a Napa store you are still money a head for not paying LMC's unrealistic freight charges and end up with a much better tank in the end. On the other hand, LMC has a really neat exclusive items like clear interior light lenses for 73-87 trucks that nobody else has.

It all boils down to researching the parts and using good judgment when ordering them. To LMC’s credit, I never had an issue with their customer service. In fact, I’ve always been pretty impressed by their customer service even if I return something that I didn’t like because of the less than sterling quality of the part or call them the next day after placing an order the night before to add more to the order even after the first order was processed. Good people.

Re: lmc?

Maybe some-one could knock up a list of the options available for those who are newbies and / or foreigners?

Re: lmc?

LMC shipped me a defective seat upholstrey kit last year. I called them and gave them and they shipped me a new one but it was the wrong color. I called again and they again shipped me the wrong color. I gave them one more chance and they shipped me one overnight and yep, you guessed it, wrong color. I ended up getting my money back. It was not a big deal just a hassle dealing with it all.

I have ordered from them several other times and have not had any problems.

Re: lmc?

I have also ordered from Brothers and Classic Industries. All are about the same.
