thanks guys, and no is the answer VT. I would have never imagined doing this to a truck last year when I bought it. My mechanical skills and motivation are slightly better than the average Joe but this is pretty extreme by some people's measure. I can't cover up rust though!

Did you see your old hitch in post #57? looks like new now and getting ready to bolt in now...

If I had it to do over I would would buy a good Daily driver (like Special-K's K-20 for sale) and fix things as needed..... I consider this the easy part, the body work will suck for sure!

great thread msgross, reading yours and 69k10stepside just inspires me to keep working on mine (when time, money, and wife permit) bed is off at this time and started cleaning up rear section of frame. keep up the good work!!!

Wow, the frame looks awesome. I am afraid of tearing into my truck, it was "restored" by a guy in SD a few years back, and so far I have more than a few questionable things (engine is seriously screwy ('79 block mismatched heads) hidden body rust, tons 'o putty) At least the rust won't get any worse here in southern AZ
