69 Dash with choke

So, where is the original dash location of the choke on a 69 in-line 6? I've been told they used a three hole dash like the 67-68 or an actual hole in the metal on either side of the dash. I'm trying to take it back to original and i'm not sure where it should go.

Thanks,
Nathan

Probably 3 different dash bezel combinations. This 1 is wipers, lights left choke on right. Don't know if all are available?

Re: 69 Dash with choke

It looks like I would use a 67-68 bezel to include the choke

Thanks,
Nathan

Re: 69 Dash with choke

I think to be correct you need the 69-72 one and put the choke under the headlight switch where the wipers would be on a 67/68. The reason for this is the 67/68 bezel has "Wipers" embossed where you want choke. There is a tab to label the choke knob. That blue bezel is a 67/68, the one frenchy51 showed is correct

You are correct. Mine is labeled "CHOKE" Under headlight switch on the left.

Re: 69 Dash with choke

I used the '67 dash and moved the wiring for the wipers over to the left side. Changing the wiring is FAR easier than changing the dash.

Re: 69 Dash with choke

Get yourself a choke tab/placard like this, drill a hole under the wiper knob in location with the formed metal hole in the dash opening to bolt your choke cable to. Add choke plate and bezel retainer.

I know really old thread but thought I would share pics of other bezel types for reference.

The one notsolo pictured is the one currently reproduced for the 67-68 models with gauges.

One of the ones not reproduced that I have on my 68 is this one. Chrome bezel from the Z62 Custom C & C equipment package and the CST package when equipped with a divorced choke carburetor from the factory.

The bezel has no raised platform with the embossed CHOKE lettering on it but the hole is there in the bezel. The hole was filled with a slightly rectangular chrome emblem with GM in the center. It has textured black paint in the center around the letters inboard of the raised chrome perimeter frame.

The emblem is the same width as the raised platform with the embossed CHOKE lettering that would normally be there and looks like it could cover the area if the raised platform were ground off. Haven't done this to see if it would work or not but might have to in order to put a new bezel into my 68 as the emblem sits flat against the bezel with no relief in the back side for any chance of it covering the CHOKE embossment intact.

Here is how my all original '68 CST/CUSTOM CAMPER cluster looks. It has a 327 with a 4 barrel carb in it. There is a plastic plate that covers the word "CHOKE" under the chrome choke delete.
