Wow, you do some awesome clean work, looks sharp! I always was a believer in the cleaner the build the better the results.

I drove my buddy nutz on the last build, He complimented me when I was done.

Just to be clear it is not the quality of the oil that is the problem. Government regulation of automotive emissions that has caused the API specifications to prevent zinc additives in API approved oils. There are plenty of quality oils with zinc available for use in flat tappet engines they just are not API approved. These oils are made up of the same base stocks as the API oils, but due to the addition of zinc they cannot have an API rating.

Re: compression ratio

got my oil scraper made and fitted. anybody want 1 pm me. this stops 99% of oil windage in the bottom end resulting in better fuel milage, longer oil life, less airation of oil and increased hp / torque, and keeping oil in pan for oil pump to pickup a older nascar engine builder turned me on to it.

Re: compression ratio

Looks like you had to custom grind that. What thickness plate did you use and how do you adapt the gasket to that?

Good morning Bob.
I have always been interested in that LT1 engine. A friend had a Camaro with it. As I remember it thumped pretty good.
What do you plan to put it in and with what trans, etc.?
