Fat man, seat bracket suggestions

72 bench seat with factory brackets, tilt wheel.

I’m 6’ tall and round. I know there are several seat bracket options out there. I need to hear from the full-figured guys out there on what they have used to help. A lower seat might help, but I need it to also go back to the wall. I have no gas tank behind the seat. I would like to keep the factory style steering wheel, but may go smaller diameter eventually to help.

When I redid a 72 bench seat with new foam I used the link posted below for lowering seat brackets. This helped move the seat down a bit and I was able to put the seat all the way back in the cab. A 15" wheel will help as well I'm the same height and about 275 when I did the seat. I have a tilt column that I relocated the NSS as well so I gained some room moving the column toward the dash as well. Good news is I've lost a decent amount of that weight but am still comfortable with seat and column where they are. Good luck with the seat issue.

im a tall fat boy im in for this one too . i been kind of worried if i lower the seat the knees would be up in the dash though

Thank you...dumb question...NSS? Neutral safety switch I assume...

I would be interested in how you moved the column. I think I understand the basic process, but how does it affect the shift lever/linkages under the hood?

I put the lower seat brackets from Full Custom Fab too, I modified the opening a little to move it back a bit , very happy with it !

Re: your linkage question, it's been long enough ago that I can't remember particulars but don't remember a big problem.
I rarely drive the GMC 'cause it's uncomfortable. Seems like too little distance from the seat back to the floorboard. Keeps my knees bent out at a goofy angle. The Impala wheel is same dia. as stock(too big). I'm gonna try the seat brackets, smaller wheel and maybe a tilt column. I lost weight good for awhile ... 90lbs, but fell off of the wagon & I'm around 350 again. ... potatoes, pasta, biscuits, fried stuff.....
