Post Newbie

Just found this site yesterday.
I'm the proud owner of a new (to me) '76 short bed step side with a 454---actually have all the original paper work from when it left the dealership.
I'm hoping to learn more about these vehicles through this forum

Cool Re: Newbie

Howdy neighbor. I think that's a rare find, a 1/2 ton short with a big block. Special order maybe, don't know?

The '76 production year is easy to maintain, still lots of parts out there for the old Squares. With the 454 it'll be thirsty no matter what you do so hopefully you'll just take short trips in it, unless you have a bottomless wallet...

Welcome. Let us know what you have planned for it.

Re: Newbie

I'm still kind of in awe of this truck--- I had an '81 GMC short step side that I drove for years and years, but that had a 350 (technically a 355 since it was bored)---mild Comp cam, and it was fun---not economical, but fun.
This big block is a LOT more fun---sounds different just idling.
I discovered that somewhere in its life, someone put ladder bars on the back springs---I'd forgotten about that old technology. I haven't tried to see if they work though...
Pictures will be forthcoming
