Yeah, maybe I'm over thinking it....The metal around the mirror looks like something is missing!

Thank's R46!! The stainless would have been nice but no way of cutting stainless that thick in the shape I was going for...(Don't have a plasma yet so all with bandsaw or cutting wheels)

Either way nicely done.

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

There was another idea I had been thinking of...
This involves the Visor, I will be "V" butting the windshield for a cleaner look. so in order to keep the visor it will need a mount to keep it from flying off the truck.
So this short update involves the making of my new mount..
Pic #1. Is the template for the arm for the mount..
Pic #2. cutting out on band saw..

Pic #1. rough cut of the arm, and fit, trim etc..

Pic #2. It looked sad with no holes..So I put a few in it to dress it up a bit.

Pic #3. Showing the small plate that was welded to the arm and will bolt to the cab. (will drill holes for flange nuts) so arm can be removed as needed

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Nothing to jump up and down about lately, but I was able to get a few hrs in on Sat. on my dash, doing a bit of clean up and spot weld as needed. (No pics sorry) getting it ready for final metal finish/texturing before clear...

Been fairly busy with shop projects and helping out a friend on his 49 F*&d truck...we cut the stub that was on it (drove like a pickle wagon) And installed a S-10 front stub over the past week and trying to get it ready for the show season..

Hope to get some stuff done on mine and get some more updates..

Customers cars, friends project, your truck...when do you sleep?

Looking forward to seeing the dash done with clear...have been going back and forth on painting or leaving the 35 Coupe in bare steel ...and don't believe their is a real good way to protect the steel from corrosion if left unpainted.

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Your right on that one...I was on the fence about doing bodywork and paint on the dash/interior as well.
with all the really small areas that are hard to get to I figured it would be a bit easier to do in bare metal/clear..
As far as the sleep thing I get plenty haha, I should be putting in More time in the shop to finish thing's up lol..

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Ok, boy's here is an update for you...
Pic #1. I finally had a bit of time to work on the dash. I sprayed it with encapsulator first..
Pic #2. Then with satin black...
Pic #3. Then painted all the gauge pods on the inside..
Pic #4. after I did my texturing and ready for clear....
The texturing was a pain in the Butt, do to the small areas so I ended up having to make it very random...
The remaining portions of the dash were done with a DA sander and 36 grit paper..

Looking good Reaper, looking good. I've got to admit, I enjoy metal work but I've got no style. I can make things work but they look functional and don't have any style to them. Your stuff has style.

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

A.D.,R46,99 and Kees thank's so much Guy's for the compliment's....

I wasn't 100% sold on the Dash outcome, I felt it didn't have enough "POP" to it (Maybe because I have been looking at this thing for sooo long!!)
Was thinking silver flake on the very upper part of dash and garnish moldings, the remaining stays the same..
Whatcha Think??

Well, I really like the dash as is....and the flake would look good too. Choosing between the two, I lean toward the dash as is. It shows the good metal work. How reflective will it be when you drive into the sun?...crap, sounding like my Grandpa now. Either way it is cool.
