Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

i read through your whole build, love your dash and steering wheel. For some reason the dash is the first thing i look at when I see a customized AD truck. I'm always disappointed when I see a stock dash! No disappointments here!!! Love the bumpers too. Great work, thanks for sharing

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

I personally luv the stock looking dash, I think its a staple. Kinda like a stock grille. some cars or trucks had them. others not so much. I think that is why chevy has stood the test of time and are some of the most highly desired antiques, customs, hotorods etc. They nailed a lot of things on the style from day one! just my take. but the more dash's that get taken out means I can collect more! but I do respect the personal touches some people desire. Its tuff to stand out from sea of cars. Main reason why I love patina. Rarely see two of the same looking truck.

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

LOW A D I'm right there with you!!
The outside is over the top and then the interior falls short....I wanted to go the opposite route and have the outside more stockish looking with a few cool features to draw you in,then you look inside and WOW "didn't expect that " on the inside...
thank's for checking out the build.

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

99 I see where your coming from, but there is SO many with a stock dash and I just had to be different!
As far as a true Patina on a vehicle they are a 1 off custom paint job....ish

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Hey Guy's...been off this project for awhile now (Been really busy with customer builds) Anyways this is not a update on the truck but a side project...

A new welding cart for my new TIG machine (Eastwood TIG 200)

Pic #1. The start of my layout, used a file cabinet for storage etc. and of course the new machine.

Pic #2. The lower frame tacked together and wheels mocked up.

Pic #3. Here I made fenders to cover the wheels and also to serve as welding wire holders/tank mount.

Pic #4. Everything all welded and fairly functional, time to dress it up a bit.

Pic #5. This is the front handle I made up,wanted a mechanical feel to the cart.

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Part 2...

Pic #1. The rear section all done, matching the front handle design with the TIG rod holder.

Pic #2. The lower mount that holds the shorter (tube of cut wire) welded in place.

Pic #3. The cart all finished for now....need to figure out if I want to paint it a color or metal finish with clear etc. etc.
Any Ideas? lets hear em..

For those who are curious, the new welder works like a charm!! it comes all the pieces needed, a chart to set the welder for material and some extra torch parts.
Well worth the money for a Tig machine on a Budget!!!

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

That is an awesome cart! I like the additional details with the handles. Paint it to match the equipment in your shop. Or clear like the dash of your truck.

And congrats on getting a TIG!

Very nice job! It just amazes me how you can have all the customer work and have time to build a cool cart.

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

99 Thank you.. have at my friend!!!

Doug, I think it will be metal textured and cleared like the dash, keeping it simple...As for the Tig unit I have a lift arc machine and it works really good on heavy material but is a challenge on thin stuff,do to No pedal (aka throttle) you adjust your amps and weld. If you start to blow through, you stop and then start over.
I learned on this style as a Boilermaker

Rusty76 Thank's

Thank's again Kees, It was a fun project and I'm also still working on my old cooler as well

Yj4000 This cart was actually build over a 3 week time frame, usually taking a bit of time on a Sunday..
Thank's again...

Re: "Project Orangepeel" 52 A.D

Hey Guy's No real update as of right now but...
I have a Question? If you may remember I shot clear over my Interior panels, molding's,dash and bumper awhile back and it has been stored at my house in my shop and I noticed yesterday everything has started to rust under the clear!
so back to the ? has anybody had this issue and or what was your solution to said problem.
Any advice would be helpful.

Thank's Mark...

I would be interested in what the responses would be...though I don't have a clue myself.

Mark, how noticeable is the rust?
