Repro or NOS dipstick for 427 Tall Deck?

Is there any source for a OE dipstick and tube for a 427 Tall deck with the larger oil pan??? Thought it would be an easy find with how many of those were produced for large and medium duty trucks, but no avail??? Id even do a nice used one if someone has one.... Just finishing up a 489 that I built in front of my large engines class last spring (yeah and I just got it done ), and since the block came in allready disassembled, I need a dipstick n tube to finish....any ideas?

Re: Repro or NOS dipstick for 427 Tall Deck?

i have made some with brake line and flare a fuel line style push connect end on it for the oring to seat up against and then cut to length needed . and if you know how much oil goes in the engine then test and trim as needed to get the stick to read correctly .

i am in the same boat as you and about to make another one for my 366td bbc engine for my gmc7000 truck .

Re: Repro or NOS dipstick for 427 Tall Deck?

Just find a tube that fits and make a new dipstick. We do this on all the race engines. Fill it with the correct amount of oil for the pan you have and then trim and mark as needed. You won't find an off the shelf set that will give you what you need.

Re: Repro or NOS dipstick for 427 Tall Deck?

Oil pan is just longer? Tall deck d/stick go into the oil pan like a regular BB? Maybe a motor home D/S as they have a bigger pan.
