Truck sat for 5+ years...trouble getting it to run...

Sat outside for 5+ years, got it home last summer. Replaced plugs and changed oil, threw some gas in the tank...it turned over, and built oil pressure (in-dash-gauge), would not fire.

Started digging in, found the Edelbrock 1405 was locked up. Messed with it for a few days, then decided to get a new one. Also got new fuel pump.

Got both installed today. Again, truck turns over and builds oil pressure, but i'm not getting any fuel to the carb.

Next step: I'm going to pull the fuel tank and check the lines from there to the pump.

Other suggestions?

Thanks, Daubs

Dribble a bit of gas into the carb and see if it fires up.
If it does try to keep it running.
Then you’ll know your ignition is working.

fuel sock on pickup on sender can get all gummbed up and be plugged off .

i think your on the right track with the tank drop and check . but first as said try and run it off a dribble of gas or bypass the tank to a 1-2 gal can and see if it runs then you KNOW its in the tank or not .

Re: Truck sat for 5+ years...trouble getting it to run...

Great suggestion. I by-passed the fuel tank to a 5 gallon can...pulled gas past the filter, filled the carb, and it ran! Idled a little high, but man, that carb did well right out of the box!

It's in the shop now. Next step, replacing master cylinder.

Thanks!!
