Passager side window won't roll down

I can only get it to roll down about an inch. Using some serious force. I oiled it up one time and it was buttery smoth now it just locks up I can push past It at first then it hit that spot and won't buge. Even With me pushing top of the window down It rolls up really easy thoue.

Re: Passager side window won't roll down

Could be the roller has popped out of the track. Pushing will only make it worse. You need to remove door panel to find out.

Re: Passager side window won't roll down

roller wheel could be broken and jammed or the spring could have popped out of the housing

Re: Passager side window won't roll down

Well I looked up what the regulater looked like in the door and the rollers are in place I beleve. I can reach in thare and feel around and nothing seems out of place. If the rollers where poped out wouldn't it be hard to roll up to. Ps now it won't role down at all

Re: Passager side window won't roll down

the roller could break and the piece still attatched to the arm could get lodged in the track

Re: Passager side window won't roll down

I think the rollers are not broke. I flet around and they seem fine. Kida hard to tell. If it is a broken rolder then how could I get my window down. I think the spring is also broken with the window up all the way I can still get a 1\4 turn on the handle

Or... I've seen this happen when the felt in the channel gets torn. It bunches up under the glass and won't let it go down. Check your felt and see how it looks and feels.

Good call on the felt. It was all tore up so I tore most of it out. It sadly did not help

Take the two screws that the arrows are pointing to in the picture out and push the window channel inside the door back away from the window a little bit. See what it does then. There is also a screw at the top by the door latch. You may have to remove it too.

Re: Passager side window won't roll down

When the felt lining is torn, deteriorated, or otherwise gone, the metal guide bar attached to the glass and runs in the channel will dig in and cause the window to "lock up".. If a chunk of the rubber that the felt is attached to is missing, the guide bar will grab and cause the "lock up"..

Forcing the issue will (if it hasn't already happened) damage the regulator mechanism.. Sounds to me like it's time for you to overhaul the entire window raising/lowering mechanism..

My first thought is the window channel felt is hanging it up. But I agree, if its been forever tear it down. Start with what Doc said, maybe you'll see it.

If you have to overhaul the door, once done you'll see how easy. Maybe you'll find the problem and all else is good, though you'll at least need new sweeps.

If by some luck your regulator is good, then remove the oil and be generous with white lithium grease. Randy500 has a nice straight-forward write up on how to do it.

You can try it but I'm not sure it will do any good to remove the wing window channel screws, it still won't move much.

Did you remove all of the torn felt? That's where I would start - you're going to need to replace it anyway.

Re: Passager side window won't roll down

what a coincidence, I just finished unfreezing the passenger side window on my new longhorn today..

the driver's side was tight but loosened up easily with some pb blaster and lubed with pb spray lithium grease..

the cam followers in the regulator tracks take some repeated movement but loosened up once soaked good..

the passenger's side rubber wiper lip lower down in the glass run was stiff and binding the metal glass track..

old farm truck probably didn't have passengers in it often so it was likely not used a lot over the years..

since it will later be replaced, I simply took a short putty knife and scraped the rubber lip away so the track would slide down the channel..

copious amounts of lube allows it slide easily for now

good luck!

I've been rebuilding the regulator assemblies for the doors I am putting together for my stepside and found that some of my spare parts have severe wear in the rear support area of the frame that the crank handle rides in. It allows the gear that drives the window lift scissor arm sprocket to move out of position and cause some damage to the gear. Some of the handle gears are worn pretty bad and have chunks missing. Maybe you have a chunk of the handle gear floating around in the housing that the handle gear splined shaft rides in and it is jammed between the gear and the housing.

When you had it freed up it was shifted to the side but has now worked its way back over to where it causes the binding up problem.

Do you have any pictures of where to spray the lube? Both mine are hard to get down and need some help. Thanks!
